The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hullo! I watched the press conference... interesting. I'm really quite tired, so I'm glad tomorrow's Friday!

Is there a vote tomorrow? On whether or not Saddam is non-compliant with the resolution?

Well, Bush said that Sadaam will be disarmed, even if the UN can't decide whether or not it should do it. He sounded tired of the waiting; said we'd waited 12 yrs. and that's long enough.

Well, I'm hittin' the road south on the first 200 miles of my trek to the speech. This ought to be really interesting. I may end up being really foolish. But, it's late and I've got to go.

Ya'll have a good weekend. I'll check back in with you all on Monday.

Ruthie, I will be especially keeping Michelle in my prayers.

I just came across something so weird, I had to share it with folks here, since this place has a high weirdness quotient. It's a barrel extension for your shotgun. It's threaded for common choke tube threads, and adds a whopping 32 inches to the barrel length.

The reasoning behind it is to quiet down the noise, so you can take your shotgun into your suburban back yard and pop those pesky squirrels and pigeons without your neighbors complaining. How you'd get this thing in and out of the door, and around corners, was not explained.

For less than the $200 this thing costs, you could get a good pellet rifle to zing those critters. Although I have been tempted at times to see how #4 buckshot works on squirrels.

I was bathing the boys and someone rang the door bell! It's after 8pm for crying out loud! It DARK! I asked who it was through the door and they said ADT. I told them to go away.

Two people have been broken into on the next street over. I'm a tad nervous. I called the police and they were going to have someone drive by.

I enjoy squirrels! - I like to watch them scamper! - Honestly I just don't get what squirrels do to tick people off!

The super long shotgun is interesting though!

Good grief. Keep posting to us, let us know you are OK.

Any reason ADT would come to your door? Do you have an ADT system? I don't think they go door-to-door.

No, I don't have an ADT system!

I've got the boys in bed now...just sitting here waiting for Steve. He said he'd be home soon.

Strange! - I would call the ADT franchise in town.... they may even have a 24 hour number, since they monitor alarms 24/7. See if they send people out for any reason.

Here too, actually... the only time squirrels bug me is when they get in the house and run rampant. But that hasn't happened since the landlord put a screen over the top of the chimney.

My door has two yellow glass inserts, you know? That go the entire length of the door. You can't see right through them, but I can see the pamphlet in the handle of my outer door.
