The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I will tell you what (I truly appreciate your concern!) .... I will drink a lot of water, and I won't take any more until it hurts more again. It is better now!

300: pricey yes, but they are seriously fine tools, in the right hands they can sing, in my hands, they might clear their throat.
I have a few hand tools from the family, grand dad and my father. My wood working tools tend to be old ones, careful scrounging can save bucks.

300: pricey yes, but they are seriously fine tools, in the right hands they can sing, in my hands, they might clear their throat. Oh, I absolutely revere fine tools. That's why I treat my Remington 700 like it was a Stradivarius. My AR-15 is just a fiddle, in comparison.
My father was a master craftsman when it came to metal, and had the machine tools and measuring equipment to prove it. I wound up with a vague idea of how the stuff works, but I can never make them sing like he did. I probably picked up by osmosis about 10% of what he knew. Building stuff out of steel, aluminum, or brass was both his hobby and his vocation. Sort of like computers are for me.
But I learned enough to know how to handle the tools I have, and to know when I'm in over my head. Also, I know enough to recognize real craftsmanship when I see it, even if I can't produce it myself.

Good night all!

Night, Hair! Hope you feel better tomorrow.
I got home to find my aunt-by-marriage and cousins at our house... thought they'd be gone but she's giving mom and dad the soap opera digest here. Lovely lessons in how not to live your life! My father is remarkably unlike his brother, for which relief, much thanks.
And I had yet another omelet for dinner... Mom needs to buy some beef!

Good night, get well soon! I'm off to bed myself.

Where's Corin? He's usually here this time of evening... Sheesh! I can't get away with anything!
Wednesday is usually church/choir night. And Mrs. and the boys went tonite. I'm taking a break from choir until after Easter. I'm still burnt out from Christmas.
I was at a Red Cross Emergency Preparedness Training tonite. Our local talk jock, Michael Graham, put it together with the Red Cross and offered it for free, first come, first served. So I went. It was pretty good, but I need to go for more "real" training, like CPR, First Aid, etc., which is on my "to do" list anyway.
Best news is they are planning a "Rally for America" for Richmond, and they're hoping to get Glenn Beck here!
Seems like the idiots are all crawling out of the woodwork today. I've been over on the thread about the Marine who shipped out even tho his infant son needs a heart transplant. He's a friend of g'nad's and the armchair generals over there are trash talking the guy. I'm just so tired of stoopid people. One idjit actually said the guy made the "easy" choice.
Some of these morons raised on MTV and the Clinton years don't realize we're already at war...all of us. I'm not sure what I can do, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna let some islamofacists get the best of me.

This probably makes no sense to any of you, but it just brought back a very funny memory.A location joke; you had to BE there! LOL!
To: HairOfTheDog
That is a very tidy looking axe you have there!LOL! Some friends of ours took their kids to one of these Medieval Fairs once. There was a sort of parade where folks came by in their costumes. Our friend's son saw a guy walk by with a huge axe, and yelled at the guy "Nice axe!". The guy turned, startled, and grabbed at his butt, then burst out laughing when he realized what the kid had actually said!!
To: Corin Stormhands
I know it, my friend...very frustrating times we're living in.
At least the left is really looney...unmistakeably looney!
I remember you saying you were going to that training now. I wish I could attend some kind of training. I'd feel better, I think, if I could do something pro-active.
To: 2Jedismom
I wish I could attend some kind of training. Well, you have a step-up with your medical training. Most of us don't have that.
Go to www.redcross.org and see what might be available in your area. If nothing else you can download their preparedness brochures.

How long have we been friends??? I've ALREADY downloaded the awaredness stuff from FEMA! LOL
And the Red Cross can blow it out their shorts. When I gave blood, I didn't even give to them...gave to the Oklahoma Blood Institute.
I gotta go...Steve will be home soon, the library closed at 10pm.
To: 2Jedismom
Yeah, I have mixed feelings about the Red Cross too.

Gooooood morning! Another dreary one here, rainy and gray. But as we really need the water (for my new/future well), I can't complain too much.
I'm just so tired of stoopid people.
Couldn't agree with you more. The whole anti-war crowd has me so irked I can't watch the news anymore- it is becoming a teeth-grinding, fist-forming experience. I got a net feed of Hannity's radio show yesterday, and they played a clip (over and over and over) of a protester trying to explain why Bush is bad and the UN is good. But, like, you know, she couldn't, like, even, form, like you know, a complete sentence??? Then on H&C they had a couple unwashed goons who thought Castro's rise to power in Cuba was an example of "a good or beneficial war". Good on Hannity for giving them the rope to hang themselves with. I just wish it was real rope.

Good Morning!
Did any of you hear Rush ranting about stoopid genes yesterday? BWAHAHAHAHA!
Anyhoo...Freeper BobJ is supposed to be on NBC Nightly News tonight at 6:30. I'll need a good swig of Bailey's before I tune in any network news. :)
To: Corin Stormhands; g'nad; Overtaxed
Good morning! Warm here, too! Or feels warmish...probably in the teens, but that means 30's later today. Hooray!
No...wait...just checked the weather. It says temperatures falling throughout the day. I didn't want to know that. :-(
One more day until Patrick Street!
