The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

To: 2Jedismom
I'll probably be around too, but I have to go to the feed store at some point.

The boys got up early this morning, about 7:15am...so they should be good and tired by 7:30pm tonight...I'll get them in bed a little early.

I didn't think to try anything...well wait...I did play a game with no problem. I thought if it was a server problem it'd be over with now. It's been like this the last 3 days now. But my e-mail works fine....well...I do have to open it up twice before I can click to read messages.

Another weird thing...sometimes I get "memory problem" message while it's loading. "Not enough memory to run *name of program*" but then there are times when I don't get that message at all.

I'm bringing in Gidget to get fixed tonight. The surgery is tomorrow. So they'll be hissing at each other again tomorrow night :-(
And I'm going to my parents' house for the weekend - leaving on Friday - so I think I might board Gidget if they will give her pills to her while she's there. I really don't want to leave her alone that weekend with a hissing Zoe and no one to give her pills!

I had trouble with my cable internet that lasted several days last week. Took forever for pages to load. It just "went away" eventually, and I figured it was Comcast. (formerly AT&T) They just changed ownership and I think had some bugs switching over or something. But I didn't have slowdowns with other computer operations, or memory warnings. Just slow-loading pages that worked better when I switched to dialup.
To: HairOfTheDog
That's not it for me. We recently switched to ComCast too, but I only have them for cable, not internet. I use MSN DSL for internet. I hope it's just their servers, and not my computer!

Well, try some other stuff on your machine tonight.... and then you can know if it is just internet related or a computer problem.
To: Dawntreader
Lord, I feel old!! He was born the Feb. before I graduated from HIGH SCHOOL! AARGH!
Happy Birthday, anyway, Sean!

Yeah, if other stuff is working, it's either their problem or a problem their stuff created with your machine.
I went through something very similar with Comcast on Saturday. Files wouldn't load, etc. He walked me through reconfiguring the set-up.
Do you have a tech support number you can call?
To: 2Jedismom
Oh, I was gonna leave and you point out that coming up...
To: RosieCotton
Usually I wouldn't have said anything, and I'm feeling sort of bad that I did...but he's constantly making comments about Bush and conservatives in general, and I felt like I had to at least make him aware that we don't necessarily all agree. Maybe I should have just kept my yap shut.Well if he feels free to share his opinion, I don't see why you can't share yours. If he gets all angry, tell him just that. He shared with you, so why can't he be tolerant of someone else's viewpoint? Heh Heh!
To: Corin Stormhands
Well, in the Old Hole...even if you subtract 4149 from the 17000 that would be attributed to the NZ thread...it still has us posting in July.
