Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I believe you are right that UVA has gotten very "liberal" these days, I glad then, that our son missed out on applying to Law School there!!
To: JenB
Very true! I love his voice.
And both Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson do a great job, IMO.
To: JenB
Actually, we compromised; a new version of an old story, "Sense and Sensibility"! I LOVE that movie. Clare and I watched it again the other night!
I took the kids today to see "Shanghai Knight". It was hilarious!! I love Jackie Chan, and he and Owen Wilson are just so funny together.

Alan Rickman is an excellent counter to Hugh-stupid-Grant.I thought Hugh Grant was cute in the movie. I'll watch Alan Rickman in ANYTHING, ANYTIME! One of my favorites with him is "Truly, Madly, Deeply". I got the Thomas Hardy novel "Return of the Native", read by Alan Rickman on audio tape to listen to on a trip once. It was 12 tapes of just heaven!!

I would rather have my tonsils extracted through my navel than sit through a Civil War movie. Well, first, you should call it by it's right name "The War of Northern Agression." ;-)
But seriesly Jen, you'd really like Shenandoah with Jimmy Stewart. It's a classic. It's less about the war than it is about a man and his family. It was made in the early 60s and the first movie I remember seeing in the theater. (I "saw" How the West was Won when I was about 6 months...)

Okay, I've done enough damage here. Wife needs to work on school work tonite. And besides, it's a Trading Spaces night...(True Lies is also on...hmmmmm...gay decorators on a budget or Jamie Lee Curtis in her skivvies....decisions, decisions....)

When you have a new hammer, everything else starts looking like a nail! :) Indeed! - and the saws-all did a marvelous job of cutting everything that she could find that might need cutting!
Soon, I will used it to actually get my own stuff done!
Do I know how to kill a thread or what!

2/22/03, 10:53 am EST - Xoanon
Elizabeth writes: I'm a member of Britannia, which is a UK mail-order club for buying DVDs. I got the latest catalogue this morning and there is a page of "Pre-Order Titles", one of which is The Two Towers, with a release date of 22nd of August. I've checked the dates for the other items on the page and they all seem to be correct, where they are available. I checked their website and although there is no mention of the date, the DVD is there and can be ordered. [More]

Sean Bean, titled "Bravo Two Zero".

Mornin' Hair. Gettin' ready to head out to church. I'm being a bad boy and not singing in the choir today. Missed the rehearsal for this song anyway. But I think I'm still in "recovery" from Christmas...
There's this bright yellow thing in our sky, and the sky is this funny light blue color...I'm frightened...
See you later.
To: Corin Stormhands
See ya later on then! We have been warned that the bright yellow thing you speak of will also be here today. Wish us luck!
To: HairOfTheDog
At least Dominic Monaghan is putting his money where his mouth is.
Good Morning!
To: Overtaxed
Yeah, if I had money, perhaps I would buy the jungle next door. How much does a jungle cost?
Good morning!
To: HairOfTheDog
Dunno....I haven't checked the exchange rates lately.
We've had a bit of wind this morning.
To: Overtaxed
Your weather has done one rude thing after another! - Ice, snow, rain, tornados, now wind. Is life there always just a daily fight against the elements? What is going on?
To: HairOfTheDog
Oh....just a front passing through I think. The wind has died down and it's supposed to get cooler. It felt like springtime yesterday. I'd put in some peas if the ground wasn't so wet.
