Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Cool! Have you got it in mandolin. :) Well...here is a version with the whole group, but it's from awhile back when we were still arranging it, and when I was first goofing with the mandolin I just bought...wasn't used to it yet. I'll have to make an MP3 of this week's version - it was pretty good, if I do say so myself!

It's not that big of a deal, though...just a doodle.I didn't think of the 'save target as' option. Thanks.
It was lovely, Rosie. Clare says she'd like to learn to play that way. She's learning guitar right now.
I think it would be lovely on the mando as well!!

"It is completely ludicrous to have moviegoers pay good money to watch commercials," said attorney Douglas Litowitz, who is representing Fisch in her suit. "They can do that at home for free." AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But back to the bandwidth deal...I mean really?!! Can the troops actually access a thread that is that graphic intensive?? unless they are in the rear with the gear, no...
As you said, I love the idea of the canteen, but I doubt if any forward deployed troops have steady reliable access to it...
To: HairOfTheDog
Sounds like a really stupid lawsuit...though I do hate those commercials! Luckily we only have one or two here, tops. No big deal, especially if it helps with costs. Might be different if I lived somewhere bigger, I guess.
I think she's just being a whiney...um...lady, though.

The previews annoy me more than the advertisments do.

Steve is teaching him "knife safety". Is Matthew a 'Bear'? If so, he could earn his "Whittling Chip", a card that grants a Cub Scout the privilege of cary a pocket knife at all Cub Scout functions. To earn it he'll have to complete the 'Shavings and Chips Achievement 19 in the Bear Cub Scout Book, and show that he knows how to use the knife safely. Steve could help Matthew's Den earn it!

The previews annoy me more than the advertisments do. Ditto. Ads tend to be boring rather than offensive. One of the reasons my little sister never saw FOTR in the theater was because of that stupid Austin Powers preview...I didn't want to have to spend five minutes covering her eyes for that.

I think she's just being a whiney...um...lady, though.Yeah, that is why I am conflicted. I hate stupid lawsuits.
But the combination of ads and trailers at the theaters I have been going to run at least 20 minutes. It is utterly infuriating.
To: Overtaxed
They both annoy me equally!
To: HairOfTheDog
At least the ads aren't R rated. At least not at the theaters I go to. Most of the ads are the slideshow type for local businesses.
To: RosieCotton; 2Jedismom
That was beautiful. You guys are so cool. 2J I want to learn to play the penny whistle (is it one word or two?) I've told everyone for years now to buy one for me if they are looking for a gift. I play my son's recorder (heee heee) when no one is around. He plays the trumpet for the high school (his 5th year) and I sometimes mess with it too. And we have a piano that we both play on. Play 'with', more like. I whistle (lips, sans instrument) all the time, constantly, and have thought I should give the penny whistle a try. I'm just going to go buy one for myself I think.

The slideshow ads that run way ahead of the previews as background noise while we are getting seated don't bother me a bit.
It is the video commercials for Volvo in between the trailers that bother me.

He made a comment along the lines of "hubba hubba" and continued watching her in the rear-view after we passed her. LOL!! Reminds me of Samual L. Jackson in "The Long Kiss Goodnight"!
To: HairOfTheDog
Volvos? I don't remember any Volvos. The theaters I've been in lately show previews back-to-back-to-back. Before that they advertise concessions.
