The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I just finished watching Casablanca. (sigh) They just don't make movies like that any more.

I'll meet someone that she knows and they'll always go on and on about how highly my mom talks about me and I'm usually standing there looking at them like they must surely have me mixed up with some one else!Sounds like your Mom just may feel awkward telling you how she really feels. I'd go with what her friends say!

Well, gee, I'm all caught up with nothing to say...
I'm uploading files to "my" website. I passed the first two reviews and it goes to the editors tomorrow.
Little one and Mrs. are asleep on the couch. He's still running a fever, but he's on an antibiotic now.
Jr. is upstairs playing a game we rented from Blockbuster. There's no school again tomorrow. I spent about an hour and a half driving him around looking for a sled. The only thing we found was one of those saucer types and he didn't want that. Couldn't find him new gloves either. But I could've stocked him up on beach toys and Easter candy...
He was pouting until Mom reminded him to thank me (he hadn't said anything to me since the third store where we were looking).
Good news is he had a decent drs appointment today and this guy seems like he's gonna be able to help. He's a Christian and is familiar with our church and youth group. Even told Jr. it was a good place for him to be. He thinks Jr. may be dysgraphic, which we've thought, but the school testing never proved it. He also thinks there's some hearing issues there, which are quite possible.
There's more and we're not out of the woods. But this guy seems to know what he's talking about. He looked at Jrs 504 plan (which is the plan the school puts together for dealing with his ADHD) and basically said "this is worthless." Anybody that challenges the public school system must have something going for him.

I think I need to watch it again. There is just so much depth to the characters. I've always liked Ingrid Bergman, and she is simply radiant in this film. I love how the camera captures the highlights in her eyes. Fantastic photography!
(still sighing)You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And when two lovers woo
They still say I love you
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by

You played it for her!
Go ahead, ecurbh.... play it again.

Actually, I think I remember the whole quote now.... it's been awhile...
You played it for her. If she can take it so can I. Play it again, Sam.

HA! - No! - I was makin some dinner and talkin' Casablanca and I am having internet trouble and other un-named pains in the rear. I just hadn't gotten back to you yet!
I absolutelty was horrid at 13. My mom took me to the counselor at church. I wasn't good again until I was about 17 or 18, but I did eventually become good.
Sorry about bein' sledless though.... that's a drag.
To: HairOfTheDog
So if I like Casablanca, what other movies would you recommend?

Jr. isn't a bad kid. But he's got the potential to go down the wrong path. He gets frustrated with things and has some pretty radical mood swings. It's a little more than just being 13.
As for the sled, it didn't help that one of the stores said "we had 'em yesterday" (when I refused to take him out).
WS_FTP is a pain...

Can't we just stick to a couple movies and watch them over and over?
New experiences scare me. I like the old familiar experiences!
I love Fiddler on the Roof. That one always gets me.

Can't we just stick to a couple movies and watch them over and over?Sure, I'm just looking for new ones to start memorizing.
To: ecurbh; HairOfTheDog
They're a couple of chick flicks, but I like:
Imitation of Life with Lana Turner
Madame X also Lana (I believe)
For fun, I like Donovan's Reef with John Wayne
And my favorite epics are:
The Greatest Show on Earth with Charlton Heston and Jimmy Stewart - Best Picture 1952
How the West Was Won with a cast of thousands.
And there's always Shenandoah a sentimental favorite for this southern boy.
