Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Heh.... The Pinta is not out to get us, I hope!

Yeah, I want my dog's job too. Doesn't pay (even though they put me in the newspaper every now and then).

Guess I'll have to go to work tomorrow....dum...dee...dum.

Listening to music DVD's and contemplating my life...my wife thinks I think too much. Your wife is prob'ly right! There are limits to the cuteness of being angst-ridden... and it can be a fine line to walk!
To: HairOfTheDog
She always is.
To: Overtaxed
Ooooooooh. Now there's a foil if ever I got one.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Dum...dee...dum....should I go backroads or frontroads tomorrow morning?
To: Overtaxed
You're as bad (or as good) as my wife!
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Hehehe...I'll take that as a compliment....I think.

Well, I am thrilled. I just took care of a pain in the rear I have been dealing with for days!
Gotta feed horses.... back in a bit.

My, I made a great King Ranch Chicken, sis! I hadn't made one in years and I took it over to share with my dad for lunch today before I tasted it and my my! It was mighty tasty!

Mmmmmm.....I only did tater cakes and pork chops.

Actually, it was a turkey casserole...we cooked a 14lb turkey over the weekend because we had it and needed to do something with it! So, we cooked it and Steve de-boned it...then last night we made up all these little "2-person" casseroles in breadpans! (The boys won't touch it.) I froze some, saved one in the fridge and then shared that one with my dad today.
I was pleased when he got up for seconds and said I felt it was a compliment. My mom said "Oh, if it's barely edible, he'd still get seconds."
sigh

Bless her heart, she meant well!
Really. does she want you to stop bringing stuff? Because that's what I'd do if I got that response.
To: Overtaxed
Oh the minute she said it I lit into her (good-naturedly, of course...I'm always good-natured...I just so @#&%* good-natured, you know...) and she was pretty embarrassed.
But she thinks that I am positively the most worthless individual on this earth...and she just can't help it slipping out now and then...every few minutes or so...
;-)
Funny thing is, I'll meet someone that she knows and they'll always go on and on about how highly my mom talks about me and I'm usually standing there looking at them like they must surely have me mixed up with some one else!

But she does like my cookies...the toll house kind like I made you? I make the dough and shape them into balls so she can manage them better (she had psoriatic arthritis, her finger joints are in bad shape). I freeze the little balls of dough on a piece of wax paper, then drop them in a big baggie. Then she can keep them in the freezer and just take out what she and dad want to bake, a few at a time.
She'll actually tell me when she's out! LOL And she provides me with pecans...which are rather expensive.

It's not much of a recipe, but I'll send it to you in a freepmail if you'll give me the gumbo recipe!

Well I'm glad you "let her know"! Unless she's got Alzheimer's or something there's no reason why you should have to put up with it.
