The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I FINISHED IT!! I hope I won! I have to be one of the first 5 to get it right.
You had to do a scavenger hunt where you got all these numbers...then you added them together and got a single number that you stuck on the end of a link, then that took you to a webpage that had a question on it that you have to answer...guess what the question was????
HOW MANY TEETH DOES GOLLUM HAVE!???
I WON!!! I just got the confirmation!! I was number 2! (Will I never be number 1?)
What on earth am I going to do with an X-Box LOTR game!!!??? This is what I won, apparently:

LOL at the question!
I've been trying to win an X-Box for the longest time! If I win one by the time you receive your prize, can I buy it off of you? :)

I think we ended up with about 14-16" total. It's kind of hard to judge because the wind was blowing so much, there was a lot of drifting and it didn't settle in one place. Thankfully this was a powdery snow, not a wet, heavy one. The kids cleared the deck and the front walk and steps yesterday afternoon, when we had about 6". It didn't take them long because the snow was so light. They have another 8-10" to dig out today. SSQ has already done the driveway for the second time; the end of it is the worst because the city plow piles up what was in the street at the end of the driveway and you have to go through a couple of feet of snow there.
It could have been a lot worse, and it is supposed to warm up later this week. I'm not sure it will put that much of a dent in the snowpack, though! I hope Autumn enjoyed her first REALLY big snowfall!

Excuse me maam, but did you realize that a 1995 Packard Bell, an X-Box LOTR game, a gas grill, and 17 whistles are the secret ingredients for a terrorist bomb?
Please come with us now....
Just kidding 2J... BTW, the answer to that question would be different in the movie than the book. Gollum says he has six teeth in the book, but I counted at least 8 in the movie during his talk with himself (at least 5 on top, and 3 on bottom)..... Check it out the next time you see the movie....

Now, how long have we been friends?? Don't you know that I already counted the teeth?? LOL Or at least enought to know that there are more than there are supposed to be. When I saw that there was more than six, I blew it off in disgust. Now why change that little tidbit?

Bad Mommy Alert! - I broke down and rubbed a tiny bit of whiskey on her top gum last night in desperation to ease her pain. Heh, Heh, I was going to suggest that, along with a Hot Toddy for YOU! Mama used to do that for us to ease teething pain. I remember this because I had a younger sister who was going through teething when I was 7 or so. When we were little, our 'cough syrup' was whiskey in a bottle with a peppermint stick sitting in it. It was STRONG, but we only got a teaspoonful, and it did the trick! It didn't taste any worse than some of these modern concoctions!
So see, you're not a bad Mommy, you were doing what you thought would ease Alyson's pain and help her rest! That's a GOOD thing!

To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
I wonder if they were even aware of that little tidbit? Well, I wasn't until my line party trivia contest...it was one of the ones I missed! :-(
But I found out what it was, by cracky and it's a good thing! I wouldn't have won my X-box game without the knowledge!

Well, I'm off to my mom's house. I cooked a King ranch chicken casserole and I'm taking some to my dad.
I have to practice lowering my voice...they think I shout the whole time I'm talking!
See you all later.

WOW! What a cough syrup!!
I'm not afeared of sippin a hot toddy now and again, especially if I know I'll be able to sleep it off undisturbed. :)
My "bad mommy alert" stems directly from the fact that most modern day parents would go into hysterics if they even heard someone mention whiskey and 7 month old in the same sentence! LOL!!
It did the trick though. I have no regrets!
