Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I'm stuck with icy hills this morning, so I think I'll put on another pot of coffee. I guess I'm an ice wuss but there's nothing going on at work urgent enough for me to risk putting the car in a ditch.

No, there usually isn't anywhere worth risking the ditch over... Glad it can wait a day or two. I am reading this essay.... Why Hollywood Hates Conservatives. It really is a good essay. It mirrors what I read when I browse over at DU. Haven't got to the punch line yet.

Yep. Coldest I saw personally was about -32, but some people in the colder pockets got temps around -40.

Warmer now. It's above zero today - finally!

Morning everyone!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to pop in over the long weekend, but I was terribly busy with the kids. Alyson has not slept thru the night in almost 5 days and I am soooooo exhausted. :( It's her teeth.

Bad Mommy Alert! - I broke down and rubbed a tiny bit of whiskey on her top gum last night in desperation to ease her pain. Nothing else was working. It did the trick and she actually slept for almost 4 and a half hours before waking up screaming again! That's a record!

Anyway, Lemme get some vittles out for you all.

Fried eggs and hot, buttered grits are ready, along with a few platters of pancakes and maple syrup. Six plates of bacon and sausage are on the sideboard, along with buttermilk bisuits. There's some sausage gravy on the stove in the pot, so help yourself if you are so inclined! I also whippe dup some scrambled eggs with ham and cheese. Coffee, hot cocoa and various juices are on the right. ENJOY!!

Sam Cree - Are you still stuck in snow? I was watching the news last night and shivered just looking at all of that white stuff. BRRRRR!

Corin - sorry to hear about the little one's tonsils! :( Please be sure to let us know about the surgery date so we can have the prayer chain up and running in full force, OK?

2J - Thanks for pinging me to OT's FReep thread. And I love the "friger" poem! Becky calls it the "refrigerlator". :) And the newborn pic of Josh is soooo adorable. I felt really good after Alyson's delivery. I was up and out of the hospital in 26 hours ( I was ready to leave sooner than that!), much to the amazement of the docs and nurses. Oh yeah, and I'm glad to see the authorities were nothing more than JWs! *grin*
