Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

2JM: Good job, 2JM, if it was me, I'd want you to holler your head off.
btw, I enjoyed your near encounter with the JW's, from the description first thing I wondered was if one of them looked like Tommy Lee Jones. Suppose the suburban had been black?
To: Sam Cree
"How do you know it's not just one with two heads?" ROFL!
To: HairOfTheDog
Hi, Hair, how are you doing?
Am heading to Manhatten tomorrow, I think, by train, to make a connection to VA. Still looks tough for driving, which is shorter from here.
May spend an afternoon there to see the great masters, that is if the museums are actually open.
Are we still at level orange, do you know?
To: Sam Cree
Still Orange at the moment.... Even though they are talking about bringing it back down, I really don't see how the threat can ever be less in the near future. But I think you should go if you want to go. Living has to go on!
I am OK! Need to go hit the couch and watch a pleasant movie. I have been sitting here at computer with the news on most of the day. Too many talking heads!

Need to go hit the couch and watch a pleasant movie.I rented Casablanca today, but I think I'll save it for tomorrow night. Believe it or not, I've never seen it!

The sun has gone to bed, and so must I....good nite.
Travel safely Sam.

You will like Casablanca!
I am looking forward to it for you!
To: Corin Stormhands
I am watching the NBC Dateline special "Michael Jackson Unmasked". It is like a wreck. I can't look away.
One theme they have been trying to put into perspective is that in order truly understand how far gone he is, we have to try to remember just how high he was. He really was 'somethin' in the Thriller/Billy Jean years. Perfection as a perfomer. I do love to watch him dance in those old videos. What mutant he has become.
I should look away. Heh. But I can't.
To: ecurbh
"Night in Casablanca," by the Marx Brothers? It is pretty good, especially when the brothers try to fly a DC-3 by themselves.
OK, good night everyone.
To: Sam Cree
Good night Sam!

Good Morning!
So far work is delayed until 10:00. They say they have parking lots cleared and stuff (but they also said to call again before leaving for work). My problem is the 1 to 2 miles between me and the first main road. Wonder if I should skate down see if they've scraped that road yet....probably not.

Greetings and warm wishes on a very snow-covered morning!
The storm began yesterday around 6am, but since it was my first day on the new job, I was not to be daunted. So, I got there nice and early, only to be told that the office was closing at 10, and we could all go home! lol...just the luck!
So, I spent the afternoon in my jammies, drinking a nice Irish Coffee, and shoveled a bit in the evening. All told, we got about 18-20 inches of snow, coupled with a nice layer of freezing (frozen) rain. I'm glad I shoveled last night, as it'll make my task easier this morning when I have to leave for work - which is starting late, at 11am. Man, I really hope the job pays me for the snow time!
The good news is, it's supposed to be over 35 degrees here the next 4 or 5 days, so hopefully the snow won't stay around for very long. I'm eagerly anticipating Spring!
Rosie, Suzi - how did you other New Englanders fare?

Good Morning!
We have about an inch of ice on the roads. The main highways are mostly clear...so the newsguy says...but I don't think I can get to them. Even the intrepid SUV owners in the neighborhood are staying put.
To: HairOfTheDog
G'mornin', I didn't watch last night, but Matt Lauer just interviewed the former security worker at the Neverland Ranch who has a new book out. Some of the things he said were pretty frightening.
To: ItsOurTimeNow; Overtaxed
Mornin'. I can't see the road in front of my house. Nevertheless I gotta go get ready to head downtown. We're on a two hour delay, so I need to be in no later than 10:30.
See y'all later.
To: Corin Stormhands
See ya! The ice is starting to drip and the squirrels are too frisky for my taste.:)
To: ItsOurTimeNow; All
Mornin' all!
Woke up this morning to you guessed it- another snow shower! Ack! No mas! Spent a lot of time shoveling yesterday and my back muscles are sore!
And miracles of miracles- they closed post! I HAVE A SNOW DAY! No matter, I can work from home. Have a briefing to finish up, don't know if I'll get to deliver it, tho. How fun- a snow day!

It's melting but the "ice removal" equipment hasn't made it down my way yet. I just got back from walking down to the road that goes to the main road....a piece of ice just starting to slush.
