Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I picked up a respirator for my daughter yesterday, don't really know if it will help, or even if she would use it, left my wife with one also. Have always had them around for operating the spray gun and airbrush.
I see on the weather channel that a line of storms is approaching Daytona.

I remember when I was a kid, a tanker full of chlorine or ammonia or something like that spilled on the highway and killed a bunch of people just by the fumes. There was a cloud of gas that hurt a lot of people.
Anyway, sheltering in place has been around a long time and I feel almost remiss in not having this set up a long time ago, almost like a storm cellar or a fire drill plan. It was easy and cheap and if I never use it, well, it's still just my computer room!

Well, I hope that the flooding will not cause too much damage. Sounds dangerous.
To: 2Jedismom; Sam Cree
That kind of thing is bad and I'm not sure what kind of precautions you can take for that.
I used to have a respirator at work but I never used it. Did all my work under fume hoods. You have to make sure you have the right cartridge(s) to go with it. I think they make combo filters that take care of acids and organics. I've never worked with biological hazards before but I figure you'd have to have a filter fine enough to screen the particles out.

"But the boys love it...they call it the "Emergency Room" and enjoy doing drills."
Isn't it neat how kids are so flexible? If adults around them don't panic, they seem to take everything in stride.

Joshua was very busy helping me set things up yesterday and got a kick out of the "coffee can and toilet paper" potty. He said "Mom, this ER is kind of a good idea!" and I said "Well, President Bush thinks so too, he gave me the idea." and Josh replied "Maybe God gave President Bush the idea, and then he gave it to you!"

Dang! I hear freezing rain plinking on the window.

Oh my.
The snow here is falling sideways, the wind is blowing so strong. Steve just went down the street to the church nearby and he walked. Bet he regrets it on the way home!

Flooding mainly affecting the little county roads here. Not too bad if one stays put. Worst happening at my house is a lot of mud - and the dogs discovering that now they can easily dig under the chain link and 'slide' out to escape. Also, I didn't make it to the store to get Valentine sale chocolate...sigh!

"Maybe God gave President Bush the idea, and then he gave it to you!"
Pure hearts speak the truth!
I'm off to hose off some filthy dogs and to mend fences. What I wouldn't do for a pair of those yellow Tom Bombadil boots in this mud!

I didn't make it to the store to get Valentine sale chocolate...sigh! I nabbed a package of miniature Hershey's bars...just one package. Wasn't I good?

We may have 18 inches on the ground by morning, they're saying now. And I have this feeling I'll be at work anyway...

Well, it's only 28 degrees here, not too cold even. But the wind is what is so bad. When they talk about Oklahoma and the wind sweepin' down the plain, they mean it! It not only sweeps down the plain, but it sweeps down fences and trees!!

Please, don't yawn. I need to get studying done and I just don't want to! Freeping is about the only way I can keep myself from giving up entirely here...

Corin? - Got lights? Yes, we have lights and cable. But we have no heat. This time we're not out of oil. The furnace decided to die. We found a repairman that can get here this afternoon.
Which basically means all my worldly goods I have endowed to an auction on eBay (this is gonna cost a bundle...)
Almost all the churches around cancelled today. I went out to get some fuel (which is why I can confirm that not to be the problem), and there were quite a few people out. But it's still sleeting and supposed to turn to freezing rain.
Of course the yankees will laugh at us, but this is ice not snow...

FROM TORN! OR, rather....
A recap of the news they still don't have!A Brief News Recap
2/16/03, 11:23 am EST - Pippin_Took
I just wanted to take a moment to recap the answers to some of the very-frequently-asked questions that we receive from readers via email:
- Although rumors abound, there is as of yet no definite, officially confirmed date for the release of The Two Towers on video/DVD. It will be sometime in mid-to-late summer. As soon as we find out, we'll post it here on the front page.
- Yes, there will be an extended version DVD of The Two Towers released a few months after the theatrical version. However, we don't know an exact date for the release yet. As soon as we find out, we'll post it here on the front page.
- Yes, there will most likely be a preview of The Return of the King attached to The Two Towers later in its theatrical run. This is not officially confirmed yet, however. As soon as we find out, we'll post it here on the front page.
- We don't know how long The Return of the King will be. As soon as we find out, we'll post it here on the front page. (It will be months before a final cut is locked, though.)
- We don't know when The Two Towers will be leaving your local theater, nor do we have any means of finding out. This depends largely on the theatrical corporate management. Your best bet is to call your local theater yourself, and ask them.
- No, we do not know the personal email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, romantic interests, or favorite colors of Peter Jackson, or any of the cast and crew of The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (especially not Orlando Bloom!).
- The name of the actor originally cast as Aragorn is Stuart Townsend, who left the film production after a few days of shooting because of creative differences (no, we don't know exactly what that means). Viggo was called in on very short notice to replace him. Townsend went on to star as the Vampire Lestat in the film adaptation of Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned.
Thanks for your attention! We make a courageous attempt to personally respond to each reader email, but we get flooded with so many redundant questions that it can be very difficult to keep up. We sometimes feel like the Ents at Isengard, digging in with our toes to keep from being washed away by the flood!
