Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good morning!
I've got some wood stacked, I just don't have a place to burn it! My sister needs the firewood and she's an hour away...therein lies the crux of my wood removal dilemma!
To: Overtaxed
OT: hmmm, would a franklin stove work out in your floorplan? From the photos you posted it looked like you're in a real woodsy location.
To: osagebowman
Yes...I'm in a woodsy lot. I suppose I could put a franklin stove in. I'd just have to have venting put in.

Good morning! We are snowed in and more is going to come for probably the next two days. I'm wondering what the chance is class will be canceled tomorrow night.
Now I have a chance to catch up on homework, but we have to miss church, which is an absolutely wonderful way to start the week.

Nothing on the local radar here. We have a winter weather advisory until 7:00 tomorrow morning.
I'm finishing up my coffee and watching "Swing Time". The race starts at noon.
To: Overtaxed
I saw your Freep pictures.... good for you!

I was hoping someone would post a picture of the WWII veteran that showed up wearing his USS Missouri hat with decorations. Most of the people who showed up were non freepers. We had a couple of Marines from Camp Lejeune show up and they went through our crowd twice shaking hands and thanking everyone for their support.

That's wonderful! There are lots of good people who aren't on FR, aren't there?
Also a lot of insane wacky people, but let's not talk about them...

Hehehe...

Hi, Jen.
I am currently trapped in Syracuse because of the storm. It is not snowing here, but points south are messed up, will not get to Charlottesville today.
My daughter, who is a sophomore at SU, tells me that they are so used to snow in this town that they don't even think about closing school for snow. After all, they have an average of 10 feet per winter, so they have all kinds of equipment to handle it. Yesterday's high was about 4 degrees, a big switch for a Miami resident.

Wow, hope you get out of there soon. Meanwhile, nice to see you around!

Good morning everyone! Snow flurries currently, I don't know if we're supposed to have an accumulation.
I am sipping on my coffee, enjoying a nice Sunday morning, home with the two jedis. Joshua is much much better, but Matthew barfed all over the place last night (it's the nasal drainage, you know...makes them sick.)
Steve said I looked better, my eyes and nose not quite so red. Anyway, he went to church.

Good Morning!
I got the bread machine going and am waiting for the race to start. Kitty is here curled up beside me. Haven't seen any new dry food barf messes to clean up lately so I think she's doing better.
To: JenB
I just checked if I could go to Manhatten today or tomorrow and visit my sister in law for a day while I wait for it to stop snowing, but all trains to there are sold out for the next 2 days, since I guess that is going to be the only way to get there until the snow stops.
But maybe right now is not the best time to visit the city anyway, since it and DC are still on high alert for terror.
However, if I have to be stuck somewhere, the town my daughter is in (here) is about tops, luckily.
Should be OK to leave on Tuesday, I think.
Just talked to my brother in Albemarle County, VA, they are not getting snow there as predicted, have lots of sleet. The radar picture does not look that bad for there at the moment.
Hope OT will not have too terrible of an ice storm.
How much snow is predicted for Pittsburgh?

It appears we're all going to live, eh?
There were times where I thought I wouldn't! LOL Felt like someone was driving large spikes into every joint in my body, including my feet and spine!
But I got the "safe room" all ready. We decided to go for a room that we could stay in for several hours, instead of doing all the windows and vents in the house. It's got food and water, sleeping supplies and a microwave, and potty supplies. The window and vent has plastic sheeting, sealed at the top (and on one side of the vent) with duct tape. All we'd have to do is release a small piece of tape and the sheet would roll out, then secure it in place. It's barely noticable.
It's really not that big of a deal...if you were to come in the room, I doubt at first glance you'd notice anything unusual. But the boys love it...they call it the "Emergency Room" and enjoy doing drills. Matthew's part is to get the milk, then go to the ER and wait, while Steve and/or I shut off the air, turn off any appliances and lock the house. Joshua is to go to the ER and wait.
I hope if anything comes of this, Steve is home, because taping up that vent is going to give me a bunch of grief. I can't put my head back like that without loosing my balance!!

Waterlogged here in TN. Flash-flood warnings. So I sit here trapped, with time on my hands to bother people (sorry, OT!)

There are four or five inches on the ground, more coming today, three inches tonight, and up to four more tomorrow. And we had two or three inches left over from last time. The drifts are going to be massive...

That's okay. I was just going to sit here all day and follow the Daytona thread (along with other miscellaneous Freeping). Looks like they'll have weather trouble in Daytona.
To: 2Jedismom
Sounds like you're prepared over there. I guess if it's going to get me, it's going to get me.
