The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Ooooo I want that TTT game! It looks really good. I was going back and forth between FOTR & that game at the store and decided on FOTR. Of course I will get TTT eventually, but I just spent way too much on the network adapter and SOCOM (ouch!)

The Daily Dose was great!!

It WAS particularly good last night! I love the pictures of Dubya with the babies! And I always love seeing him greet Jeb. They are SO cute together!

(except for the people who went overboard plastic-coated themselves)

It was probably more comfortable than the foil anyway.

Happy St. Valentine's Day!
What a lovely description of snow overed Syracuse! Yeah, we get so tired of dealing with it, it gets hard to see the beauty of it anymore! But sometimes, when the snow is falling, it's lovely to step outside and just listen to the silence around you, especially at night. It seems like all sound is just absorbed by the snow!

Have a great visit with your daughter. I'll bet she's glad her Daddy came to see her for Valentine's Day!

OOH! I love those little 'conversation hearts'! They remind me of grade school!

Happy St. Valentine's Day to you, and all the Hobbit Hole Dwellers!

a major portion of the info Homeland Security used to bring us to "Orange" was found out to be a *gasp!* lie!

I didn't even realize that it came from a prisoner...I just assumed that the code Orange was just another step getting us ready for war, and the potential retaliation we might experience.

So it doesn't matter to me if it was based on a lie...and I'm glad they aren't retracting it. I think it needs to stay that way and the minute we start bombing, we go to Red.

I hope that makes sense...I'm been trying to figure out how to word that ever since you posted to me! I can't hardly think straight.

I'm going to go lay down, I think.

Me too! That's why I love giving them every Valentines Day. They take me right back to 3rd grade and the innocent days of the old schoolyard....

Have a good rest 2J. How's Matthew today?

I look forward to the day we can rid of the color codes. This is America for cryin' out loud. Although since we now have a cabinet level bureaocracy set up whose existence depends on the color codes, it will never go away and it will never go to green. JMHO.

Is Bush's strategy perhaps to go so slow that even the left is begging him to just end it? Heh

Yeah, good strategery, huh?

The lib pundits will always call him a 'cowboy', though! Jonathan Alter, in an editorial this week, was still spouting that Bush is a hot headed cowboy, and Colin Powell is an even-minded calming influence. And this was in a column where even Alter admitted that Colin Powell had convinced him that Iraq was a direct danger to not only his neighbors, but to us through terrorist networks. Somehow, Mr. Alter just couldn't wrap his little brain around the fact that he was actually admitting that Pres. Bush was right all along!! (God Forbid!)

I notice that my topsiders are not doing very well here, though, might have to go get a pair of sneakers.

Hey Sam, see if you can find what I got for SSQ for Christmas. They are New England Overshoes, and it's like a heavy duty boot that has a gusset that opens wide so you can put your foot, shoe and all, into it. I had run into trouble finding anything large enough so that SSQ could pull it over his sneakers, until I found these. I saw them in an LL Bean catalog, but by the time I called, they were out of stock. I found them cheaper, and ordered them from Here They arrived in no time, and work like a charm. You could also check around over there to see if any stores carry them.

Jean asked me to read the thread about the Church's witness. So I've been reading it here and there throughout the day and commenting as I go. I've been pinging you to my comments. If you want me to stop let me know.

I don't mind the pings. I just haven't had enough time to read the thread so I could speak intelligently.

(not, of course, like that's ever stopped me before)

You don't need to respond to my pings. I just didn't want to fill up your My Comments screen with stuff you didn't care about.

It would take me several hours to read and digest that and do any justice to it. I don't know if I have that many spare brain cells left over for that sort of thing. Although I can definitely see the appeal. Molasses is sweet.....
