The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

A boarding stable is a great dream -- hang onto it. I have always thought that dog boarding too is a good, low stress, business to be in -- especially if it's the kind of place where the dogs could be really happy (like camp) and not just penned up all the time.

Good morning...
It actually sounds like you're in a rather good position, job-search-wise... you can put together a resume' and search the job listings until you find a job you like, and working from home you won't have any trouble scheduling interviews. Once you find your ideal situation, put in your notice with your current job and move on, easy as pie! ;)

I love your big plan, Hair!
I certainly hope when you have your world-famous boarding facility up and running, that I will be a welcome guest. :)
Disclaimer: I know nothing about horses, their care or upkeep, so I can be relegated to mucking stalls. I'd do so with a happy heart!

Just up and leaving my curent job is not that easy.... It would die and leave a lot of promises broken. I may, however, be able to continue the service in some skeleton way, even with a different job.

I could board dogs at my boarding stable as well, if I could handle all the barking! have to think abou that.... CAVU stables and doggie day care!
To: RMDupree
There are lots of places you could start!

Diversification in business is good!

I should have known, nothing is ever "as easy as pie".

was trying to figure out how a senator from Minnesota had a Northeastern accent.... He grew up in Brooklyn, I believe.... but moved to Minnesota as a young man... never lost the accent... it's part of his "charm"
To: HairOfTheDog
Is moving part of your "big plan" or are you going to start your business there?
To: RMDupree
I would have to buy property and move. This property is not a bad location really, but 7 acres is not enough land. I will need 20 acres or more.

So what made you pick the guy that drives the Viagra car?
To: HairOfTheDog
I know exactly what you mean, Hair. Just know that we are all here for you.
You can trust us to stick to you through thick and thin - to the bitter end. But you cannot trust us to let you face trouble alone. We are your friends.
And most importantly, hang on to your dream, and don't let the nattering naybobs of negativity that we all meet in this life get you down on it. I heard a motivational speaker once who described what that type of person does to you as "pissing in your ear".
You are in my prayers, friend of friends!

Kentucky, maybe? I went to college in Kentucky horse country. It's beautiful there.
But I'm guessing that's a little far. Right Hair?
To: RMDupree
Oh at this point, I can't imagine it would be anywhere other than this area. I have very few roots, but the ones I have are all that I have! If I met someone whose roots were elsewhere, I suppose anything is possible.
