Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

SAVED!My boss called when I was less than a mile down the road, not even to the freeway yet, and tried to jockey our meeting time around. (She had hoped I hadn't left home yet) We ended up just scheduling a teleconference later this morning, and I don't have to go the city after all!

Did you see the new design for the Presidential limo?

Maybe the Elven blood had become too diluted by the time Aragorn was born.Or maybe Elros made them human forever.
To: HairOfTheDog

Probably more than one (many are trying to leave on their own)! Pay is OK. Working conditions not so good (expect 16 hour days). Bosses make Sauron look like a Hobbit. Proceed at your own risk.
I may soon be much poorer, but my blood pressure is well into normal range again.
To: ItsOurTimeNow
Congrats on the new job! Hope it works out well for you!

I guess Texan women are cut of a different cloth.Heh, you got that right! ;)
There was some speculation down here that she might get off using the "He needed killin'" defense. Unfortunately for her, she tried the "It was all an accident" defense, which no one believed even before seeing the video which showed her running him over multiple times.

Et tu Hair? Seems to really be going around the Hobbit Hole...maybe it's just all the chaos and upheaval in the world affecting our little Shire?
I must tell you that being scared is normal. I've been scared and a little "not myself" for over two weeks now. Sometimes it abates, but it's always there. I guess we just have to get used to it and realize it's a normal part of the process of setting off in a new direction.
I get scared about things I can't control -- like the reaction of potential employers (especially here in Oly) to my strange and somewhat disturbing story. I get scared of being black-balled because I have taken on enemies at the very top of the state's political power structure.
There's always lots to be scared of, and you will feel that. I don't have much experience yet with this, but I think the important part may be not letting the fear, that will be there, paralyze us or hold us back from exerting the energy to get out the other side intact.
God bless you, Hair. I guess if misery loves company, we all have plenty of that these days.

Would you rather have that or the chance that Grima wormtongue could come up as your match? Well...point taken, but did it have to be SO obvious?

We are now wired into the rest of the world. Are the Dem Senators still trying to filibuster the Estrada nomination? It was fun watching Hatch tear into them last night....

Yeah, they're at it again. Although from the live thread Norm Coleman currently has the floor...
To: Corin Stormhands; rightwingreligiousfanatic
Yes, watched Norm for a while... was trying to figure out how a senator from Minnesota had a Northeastern accent....

Gentlemen....start your engines!
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Hi Scott!
I really shouldn't be scared.... I am a bit afraid of becoming unemployed because of my dependents (I can't just pack up and move home like I did last time!), but I almost feel like I would be happier in almost any job for now. I have no great ambitions to 'be' anything. And, really, barring expensive malfunctions or expensive animal injuries, I could pare down to a pretty cheap lifestyle. My rent is dirt cheap. The horses are only really mildly expensive to feed, and I could do it more affordably than I am right now by buying in bulk.
My "big plan" has nothing to do with any job I find right now. In 4-5 years, I will be coming into the money I need to do what I really want, which is to open a boarding stable. That is what I really want to do. I hope I don't have to do it alone, but I will if I have to.
