The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the Road where it began,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then?
I cannot say...

We are on the road with you Hair...

God Bless the man that thought of chocolate-covered-pretzels! The best of both worlds!

Congrats on the new job, and too bad about your old 'jerk' boss, but aren't you glad he's the 'old' one?

Since you've got some free time on your hands, why not try something new, fun and tasty? You can make those chocolate covered pretzels yourself! Get some candy melt discs at a candy making store, or Michaels, or Jo-Ann Fabrics, melt them and dip your own mini-pretzels; a 1 lb. bag will do a BUNCH of pretzels! I don't know if y'all have iParty down in RI, but I discovered that they sell a 1 lb. bar of Ghiradelli melting chocolate; it is SO scrumptious!!

Just lay the dipped pretzels on some wax paper on a cookie sheet, and put them in the fridge (or cover them and put them outside today!) and in a few minutes you have some yummy 'I did em myself' treats! I think Autumn would have a great time, though you'll have to be wiping her hands and face every few minutes, and be sure to have her wear an apron, because she'll be wearing as much chocolate as she's eating! You could even sprinkle the covered pretzels with red sugar as soon as they're dipped, in honor of St. Valentine's Day!

On the bright side: it sounds like you are ready to start a Great Adventure! (don't forget to take a pocket handkerchief!)

Wal-Mart also makes some great peanut-butter filled, chocolate covered pretzel chunks.

I saw some of those in Trader Joe's the other day. TJ's also has some YUMMY Dark Chocolate covered pretzels, if you're not of a mind to make your own.

Thanks for being wonderful everybody! I have to go to Seattle and talk to my boss and I am not ready to "go for it" yet! - Nor am I ready to hit the road, with or without my hankerchief! ;~D

As soon as I know what exactly you should be hoping and praying for, I will let you know!

I still can't say it and sound natural doing it! I stumble over "gig" and "jam" every time...

My sister is a professional "gigger". She uses the word "gig" all the time.

Perhaps that is because you can't say them without the quote marks. Maybe you are tripping over those.

I know some musicians who use it for about every kind of job, music related or not. Day job (or day "gig", as they say) included. Don't know why it seems awkward to me, but it does!

LOL! Yep, that may be it...I can't help at least implying the quotes! So I end up pausing and saying it very stiffly!

Hehe...everyone needs to look for another "gig"?

Don't know how much posting I can do today...I have a QA audit.

They didn'd say anything about duct tape in Radiation Training....more about disposals and wipe tests.

Most places of employment have a trial period...usually what? 90 Days?

Exactly, it's a probationary period, and it was even in my employment contract. So, I don't know what his issue was, and honestly, I doesn't bother me.

Isn't it great?

Aye, it is. We built a fort outside, then did a "snow dance" - (don't ask me what it is, she made it up..lol). Built, then destroyed, a snowman...now I'm having hot chocolate, and she's quietly playing with her Lego's. Jess is reading, and the cat is sleeping in a ray of sunlight.

*sigh*

Bliss...
