Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Uh oh....chicken soup!

I got that cold from Matthew when he was three and lost my hearing from it. Now I get nervous every time I get a cold! Irrational though, my rational mind knows the odds are very slim it ever happening again. But if it does, I hope it hits the bad ear again! LOL Nothing to loose!

Have you gotten ear infections with colds since then?
To: Overtaxed
Yes, but always in that bad ear. I don't know why. It gets infected and hurts dreadfully...
It makes some pretty ringing sounds...more like bell tones...very nice when I pay attention.

We are formulating a plan to create a Kilted Bear in honor of you know who.Well, Rose might like it, but I don't think I want any part of it....

Just wondered. My mom had problems like that with head colds after she had a tube put in her ear.
I just get congested sinuses.
To: 2Jedismom
Deaf in one ear and you can still play the whistle...

I had tubes in my ears when I was a kid...But whenever I get sick, it's always myy right ear and sinus that gets infected!

Hair: those pictures are amazingly clear, thanks for posting.
All: finally got caught up, quite a spread today, duck tape, filibusters, sick animals, and cookies.
Samantha has just indicated that there is really nothing as important as her evening constitutional. BBL

Guess I'm lucky....I don't get those infections.
Knock on wood
To: JenB
Yeah! Ha! But I can't play it very well, which has nothing to do with my ear.
I never heard a live symphony...I always meant to and I guess I still do, but I don't believe I'd get the full joy from it.
What's the opposite of stereo? That's how I hear.

2JM; yes, I think so; btw, I believe the answer to the question is monaural. You probably don't remember when stereo records came out, hi-fidelity and simulated stereo were generic non-stereo records. But they were a lot cheaper, less than a buck for an album, but the stereo ones, two bucks and up.

Although I've adjusted and don't really notice it as much, it still reminds me of listening to the world through a single earphone...

But I really enjoy life... and I have my younger siblings. The thought of some terrorist out to hurt them is really intolerable. So I'll help out with getting our supplies... Now you're thinking like your Mama! Scary, isn't it?
