The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Abby something. Abby who? Abby Normal!

Yes! I once had a supervisor named Norma. We called her "Abby Norma." (not to her face)

I did the same thing today...twist my arm to shop at Walmart! Actually, I bought a lot of stuff that can go in a big box and I'm moving it in here in the computer room. Flash light, canned goods, batteries. If we have to "shelter in place", then we're pretty well set and it just so happens that the computer room is the only room in the house with just one window.

I have a phone, a TV and two computers in here...if the electricity goes out it'll be a bummer, but if not, we're good!

I got offered that job today! It doesn't start for another three weeks, so I have time to keep looking for something a bit more to my liking. This a takes a great deal of pressure off though. Thanks for all your prayers!

An interview with one of the guys who worked on the FOTR:EE DVD...

The focus isn't on LOTR, but there are a few interesting bits about how the commentaries were put together and the DVD industry in general.

I am frustrated at not being able to decipher it!

You think they might be referring to the part where Smeagol kills Deagol for the ring, then begins to turn into Gollum. Remember the picture that was posted a week or two ago that showed a half Smeagol/half Gollum, on the way to becoming fully Gollum as we see him in TTT? Maybe that's what they're talking about.

what is the world coming to when my mother has to worry about terrorists?

She's not the only one. I just spent an hour gathering stuff. I'm gonna take it down to the basement tomorrow. SSQ has the duct tape and plastic for sealing the windows. Actually he already had several super duper window sealing kits, so we're fine there. We've got running water and a sewer line in the basement. There's a single bed, a couch and we've got an inflatable king bed, so we can be reasonably comfortable for a while. If the power stays on, the TV is down there and so is the cable internet connection! We have underground utilities on our street, but most of the rest of the town does not.

Help your Mama, Jen. She's probably really worried right now! I'm just glad the kids are home all day with me and that SSQ is only 5 minutes away! Our two older sons live away, but they're grown men so they'll have to take care of themselves. Doesn't mean I won't worry about them, though!
