Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

It was an excellent speech.... This is the part I have seen now. Keep watching, then end is something.
Missing man flights break me up, but when I watched earlier, the camera Fox had didn't pan to it.
To: HairOfTheDog
It was just one plane, right? They didn't show it for a while.... That was very moving, especially seeing the one family's reaction as the plane went over....
Well, God bless them all... I'm glad I saw it...

Will they do a funeral with full military honors At the Washington Cathedral service on Thursday? - Some of the Astronauts are civilian, I know, but will they have the color gaurd and a playing of taps? - I don't know protocol.
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
No the camera work just wasn't good. It was I think a four-plane missing man flight, where the formation approaches in a diamond, and one pulls off alone, leaving the hole in the formation. By the time the camera panned up, they panned up to the one.
To: HairOfTheDog
I don't know protocol either, but I would imagine they would qualify for full military honors... I would let 'em anyway....
Thanks for the clarification on the planes - lousy camera work is right...
Well I gotta go, hope your thank you gift arrives tomorrow!
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
Well, the camera should have panned to the three. The focus is supposed to be the formation with the plane missing ;~D
You know what absolutely kills me at services? The funerals, often military, with the riderless horse. This one was at the Ground Zero Ceremony....

It is the rituals and rites that get me. They are much more beautiful than clumsy ole people.

Hello! I am back from choir and I need to write a paper on DVDs before bed - I just remembered that my partner and I are supposed to compare notes tomorrow. Darn! So commiserate with me, ok?

Got this off the Day in the Life thread...

commiserate with me, ok? I would, but you are supposed to be doing your homework.
To: 2Jedismom
I love all the common folk gettin' involved.
They showed some horsemen saddling up to search today too. Reminded me that I was gonna join the Sheriff's mounted search and rescue posse, and I keep putting off following up on it. I am gonna call tomorrow!
I am a little bit of a burden, because I don't have my own trailer. Someone would have to come and get me and Bay before I could help, but hopefully if I befriended some of the others, I will be close by for somebody else who is going.
To: HairOfTheDog
I will be close by for somebody else who is going. Not going now, of course! I mean on calls in the future close by here, not in Texas.
To: HairOfTheDog
It's largely cut and paste and rewrite tonight. No brainer.

Right...I gotcha. That sounds so neat!
I had a dentist appointment today...one cavity, but it's where a filling fell out anyway.

Our sheriff is a big horseman and his mounted volunteer posse is kindof a neat thing, yeah!
I am due for a dental..... I have never had a cavity, didya know?
To: HairOfTheDog
That's great! I have a mouth full of cavities!
:~|
Josh came in here after you posted that last post to me and cried about his computer game that I made him turn off. Cried irrationally. So I scooped him up and rocked him to sleep here in the computer chair...except the computer chair goes from right to left instead of forward and backward like a rocker. Didn't seem to matter, he went out pretty quick!
He was just very tired. He can't think straight when he's tired.

It's impossible to have EVERYONE like you, but I can't help wishing for it!You know....I'm getting tired of wanting people to like me. I think I'll go over to C&F and see how many of them I can get to hate my guts. :)

He can't think straight when he's tired. Me neither!
To: Overtaxed
Little disrupting for fun? - I was thinking of registering at DU again some night.
To: HairOfTheDog
Hehehe...sure, some liberal whistle-playing disrupting....especially when one of them starts up boo hooing over their personal problems.

He was just very tired. He can't think straight when he's tired.Sometimes our kids would be so tired they would just cry and cry. Nothing for it but to wait for them to drop off to sleep. They just wouldn't be consoled!
We just got back from taking our 'baby', who turned 13 today, to the Outback for supper. I can't believe it has been that long since he was born! Time flies, I tell ya!
