Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Dammit! I just got word that the wife of one of my best buddies from high school is in the final stages of cancer. I've known her since childhood.
She's fought breast cancer bravely for two years, but just found out that it has spread to her brain. It's just a matter of time.
Sigh...life wasn't supposed to suck like this...
(I'm okay, just sad and angry. I'll be back later tonite.)

MMM. Mexican food! That's something we've missed living in MA. Can't find a good Mexican joint anywhere!
We want to get a good telescope so we can look at the stars year-round, though we love going to observatories. We went to the observatory at the Museum of Science in Boston one Friday night and were able to look at Saturn. We had a great view; the rings were so distinct! The image filled the viewfinder of the telescope. Later the same evening we looked at the moon, and the image was so sharp we could see the crenallations of the hills and mountains along its edges!

Ok if those people watched that movie they either didn't pay attention or it went way over their heads! LOL....ok I'm done posting over there now! (Unless someone else responds LOL)

Sorry to hear about that :-(

NO NO...dont feel bad... I am unable to participate in a lot of the conversation here...often I just breeze by for a word or two...but NO ONE, including you, have ever made me feel unwelcome! I *should* stay longer to get to know everyone. My bad, not yours!
Unfortunately, I *wish* I could claim ownership of that poem. I can hand that information on to my Dad...and perhaps he can let his friend know about it. But beyond this forum, (and my blog, where I give credit), I dont think I can post it much further...
y'all are the best!

Wow, that sounds like an excellent trip to a museum. I'd have loved to see that. So would BOTH my girls.
Don't feel too bad about the Mexican food. I'm still in Texas and too far north to be able to find anything top quality. Folks here think El Chico is grand.

Gondor has no huevos... Gondor needs no huevosThat may make some of those Gondor men a little angry!

Ah, Corin, my heart is with you. I lost a very dear friend the same way. She battled breast cancer for 3 yrs., bone cancer for 2, then the brain cancer for almost a year. She was at peace at the end, though, as were her friends and family, because they knew where she would be.

Hehehe....looks like I got ignored on the C&F board.

You need to have your phone disconnected...... Ain't that the truth!
My friend actually has an amazing outlook on life. She told another friend that all that she needed was "lunch with my girlfriends," so they're going next week. She has a strong faith and her family is with her. They have a daughter entering college in the fall and a son in high school.
It's one of those bad things happen to good people stories. I know there's a reason. But it still stinks.
I don't mean to be so down. I know this isn't all about me. But my friends are hurting and I just wish I'd been a better friend over the years.

Tell them you will not be ignored, and if they continue they'll come home and find their tin whistle in a pot on the stove...

So maybe I should post there more often just to see how many people I can upset?
That sounds like it might be fun!
