The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Lord of the Pants, huh? I noticed that the highest bid is for Nick Parks' skivvies! He's the guy who sculpts "Wallace and Grommit" and who did the movie "Chicken Run".

Oh a nice spot of cheese would taste good right now, eh Gromit? Perhaps some Wensleydale?

To: SuziQ
Oh sorry Suzi, I thought MS was the abbreviation for Massachusetts, I knew Ted was not the senator from Mississippi. I had supposed the idiot was driving.
To: Sam Cree
No prob, Sam. Folks do that all the time. They'll also assume MI is Mississippi, but it's Michigan! It's confooosing!
To: SuziQ
A quick Google search confirms that Ted was in fact driving at the time of the accident, and even said so in a statement.

Remember this (slightly revised) joke?
Good news: Saddam has agreed to accept Susan Sarandon in exchange for total disarmament.
Bad news: Teddy Kennedy is driving her to the airport.

Evening all. Just stoppin' by once more while the laundry is drying.
Have we had an easy evening getting ready for the trip? Of course not, this is the Stormhands household.
We went thru this whole thing to get Jr. to go. He's interested in video production so we're gonna show him the communications dept at the school. Mom was taking him for a haircut this afternoon and he decided he didn't want one (he hasn't had it cut since the picture you saw). She said, "you can't go without one." He said, "fine, I'll say here," and meant it. This is after we'd farmed out his little brother to his aunt in North Carolina and the dog to the kennel. Grrr.... End of story, he has a haircut and he's going.
Went by to pick up my shirts at the dry cleaners. Took them there yesterday so we'd be sure to get them today. They weren't there and of course I'd taken them all. Worked out because my neighbor manages the store. He went to the plant and got them for me.
Told the Mrs. "do not use this card, we need it for the trip." Which one has she been using all week? Yes, you guessed it.
Sigh...I should be my own soap opera...
Anyway, I'm out of here. I'll try to stop in Sunday when we get home.
Keep it secret. Keep it safe.
To: Corin Stormhands
Have a safe trip!

Morning all!
It's almost Friday! Whooohoo!
To: Lil'freeper
Good Morning!
Any plans for the weekend?
To: Overtaxed
LOL-
1. Get some sleep
2. Grocery shopping
3. More of the financing-the-house-nightmare
4. Various and sundry tasks
4+n. Clean house. (Ugh.)
Such fun! Such fun!

Good morning! Another late night.
*yawn*How is everyone this morning?
To: Lil'freeper
Yuck!
Since it's not supposed to rain and the temperatures are warm, I think I'll be working in the lumberyard again this weekend.

The first two don't sound bad, but I'll pass on the rest. :-(
I have to clean house, too. And do laundry. I'll probably put it off until Sunday evening and then feel guilty all next week for being such a slob!
To: Overtaxed
Good morning. Last day of work for the week. *big smile*
To: Overtaxed
Spent a lot of time last night playing whistle. I really like my new one. Too bad I'm so lousy at playing! Meanwhile my whistling brother keeps stealing my mandolin whenever he visits. Looks like we may end up doing some crosstraining, which would be fun!
To: Overtaxed
Close. I'm in the agrochemical business. I test and develop methods for testing crops and soils for chemical residues. OT, it sounds like you have a really cool job. If I'd continued with my original line of studies after high school we'd somehow be in related fields.

Morning, morning, morning!
Boss is on vacation so I should be able to hang out in the Hobbit Hole a bit more today. I still have to get my sweeps out for this week, so if I do disappear, I'm either doing that or eating some cookies (or both)!
Let's get on to breakfast!
Pancakes with maple syrup, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon strips and sausage links, grits and fried eggs and buttermilk biscuits. Plenty of dark Colombian roasted coffee is ready, along with various juices. ENJOY!
Corin - have a safe trip, Master Dwarf. I can totally relate to the soap opera feeling. Ask anyone who knows me about my terrible luck! LOL!
2J - did you receive your package yet?
OT - Dittoes on your package?
