Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Plus, we must assume that we'll see the bloopers without the special effects. Seeing that ahead of the actual film would take away some of the magic.

Can't have Gandalf threatening a blue screen! It would remain in your mind every time the Balrog scene appears. :)

True, but all the extras I've seen have shown blue screen and miniatures so I don't think that would take away much from it for me. But I do agree waiting until the last movie for the bloopers. I can't wait to see them though!

IMHO, It takes away from the gravity of the story if you immediately follow the initial DVD viewing of the first or second part with Frodo dropping the One Ring and saying *expletive*!!!

My favorite type of blooper is where one actor finds something so funny that he snarfs and breaks out in laughter, taking everyone else with him. It gets so contagious that even a slight hint of a smile breaks everyone up. It's even worse when the scene is quite serious, and everybody is trying hard not to laugh.

I just had a plumber here fixin' my two drippy faucets.

When he was all done and was on his way out he says, "You or any of your friends ever have horses that are put down?"

"Well, once in a while, yeah.... why?" was my answer. (where are ya goin' with this?)

"Well, I want them. The horses that have been put down."

"Why?"

"I want the meat."

"Why?" (Why do people with really bizarre requests make me pull the reason out of them with a truck?)

"I would feed them to my cats."

"You must have a lot of cats!"

"No, just two."

"Um... Lions?" (If you get any more obtuse I am gonna reach up and poke your eyes out.)

"Tigers."

"Wow".


Now..... The guy could have been a little less mysterious about his bizarre little question. But I then started to get some real information out of him. He usually buys whole turkeys and chickens and beef parts and such, and recently someone gave him a horse that had died, and he had really liked that.... lots of meat, and free.

"I said, but what about the drugs?" and he said that if the horse was going to be put down with drugs that he couldn't use it, only if it had been shot.

I said, "Well, no horse I know is going to be shot in the head after 25 years of loyal service. They are going down with lots of very pleasant drugs." He said, "I understand."

So I said, "Well, I had not considered feeding my old friend to a tiger before, but I don't know why not... If I know of someone who has lost a horse from natural causes, I will try to bring up your tigers at an appropriate moment."

I don't think Bay wants to grow up to be Tiger Chow.

No, I think Bay probably does not want to be tiger chow. But when he does go, I would have two choices.... call a rendering truck to come and get him, or call a backhoe driver to bury him here. Neither really carries more dignity with it than being fed to a tiger. There is no way to move a 1200 pound dead horse with dignity.

But he would only want him if he died of natural causes anyway.

I understand. We've (hopefully) got a long time to worry about our dog (he's only 5), but at 75 pounds, I'm not going to bury him in the backyard in our subdivision. I have a cat and a hermit crab back there, and the previous owners also buried something (with them it could be somebody) out there as well.

We're s'posed to go over to my sister-in-law's for dinner tonite. My M-I-L and other S-I-L are here. They're taking the little one to NC while Mrs., Jr. and I are in KY this weekend. They'll bring him to my mom's on Saturday.

But I'm not sure I should go tonite. Their boys are 4 and 2. I look okay, but am probably still contagious. Mrs. says I should go. I said "ask your sister."

I haven't told my wife this yet, but last night when I was putting the little one to bed, I mentioned that he was going to North Carolina, so he looked at me and asked "Where's Papa?" He hasn't done that (that I'm aware of) since we were down for the funeral and Papa wasn't there. Even when we say his prayers and pray for Nana, he only stopped me once to add Papa. Then about 4:45 this a.m. he started crying, and my wife went to get him. She didn't hear him say this, but I heard a definite "I want Papa."

It just seems early to me for him to have that type of recognition that someone is gone. Or is it just a matter of him missing Papa and not understanding where he is. I dunno. I just thought it interesting.
