Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

A Warning To Fans - Xoanon @ 12:39 PST

To Whom it may concern:
The offer made by Fan Fest Autographs claiming to be making available a private signing by me, through which anyone willing to pay $25 would receive an autographed picture complete, with certificate of authenticity, is completely misrepresentation. Furthermore, I have never charged money for an autograph, nor would I ever do so.
If you have already paid a single cent for an autograph of mine I suggest you go about getting your money back and or contacting the appropriate authorities immediately. Even Fan Fest has now acknowledged that I have never had any contact with them, much less ever endorsed any such venture. Fan Fest has agreed to immediately remove this offer and cancel any and all sales related to me. The person or persons who initiated this scam are morally reprehensible..

That's cool that your Mom lived at a fish camp. I like her style.

No autographs for oil!

Is that horse being ridden "at liberty"? It looks like the rider's foot is in a stirrup of some kind... or does that still qualify as "at liberty"?
To: Dawntreader
Sean Astin was born the year I graduated from High School. Sean Bean is the same age as my baby sister!! (and six years younger than I!)

What exactly is a Fish Camp? Is that kind of like an Octopus's Garden? ;^)
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus' garden in the shade
I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus' garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade.
We would be warm below the storm
In our little hideaway beneath the waves
Resting our head on the sea bed
In an octopus' garden near a cave
We would sing and dance around
because we know we can't be found
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade
We would shout and swim about
The coral that lies beneath the waves
(Lies beneath the ocean waves)
Oh what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy and they're safe
(Happy and they're safe)
We would be so happy you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden with you.

(Replace "Octopus's" with "Hobbit Holer's" and you come pretty close to the feeling around here. ;^)

The dwarf is 4 years older than me. Age is finally catching up, it seems. That is compared to most of you guys.
To: Corin Stormhands
HaHa, yeah, seems a little ironic, him talking about moral rehensibility :-D Just kidding, Hair, I believe Viggo to be a nice person.
To: Dawntreader
Thank you DT! That is cool. I'm closest to Viggo and between him and Brad Dourif...

That's cool that your Mom lived at a fish camp. I like her style. When I was growing up, she used to pick us up on the last day of school, with the car packed, and we'd head for the MS Gulf Coast. We'd stay all summer, with Daddy coming down late each Fri afternoon. A couple of days before school began in the fall, we'd come back, get our uniforms (Catholic School), school supplies, and new shoes (ouch!). We did that every summer I can remember until I was in high school. At that point, my just younger sister and I had activities, etc, in the summer, so we didn't spend the whole summer at the Fish Camp.
It was never really rustic, though we didn't have a TV or A/C there until I was in high school. It was a wonderful place to while away the hot days. We'd jump in the river first thing in the morning, play til lunch, then go back in the water until dark! Nighttime was spent playing hide and seek or sitting by a smoky fire chasing away mosquitos. What a great life!
Before he died, my Daddy did a lot of fixing the place up and made it suitable for all seasons. When he died, Mama sold her house to my brother and moved down there full time. She was able to stay until late last year when we had to put her in the nursing home.

He is in a saddle, yes, but I would consider him "at liberty" because he has no bridle. The saddle provides stability for the rider, not a means of control!

What exactly is a Fish Camp? You know, that place that little fitties go in the summer when they're not in SCHOOL! LOL!!

To: Dawntreader
My birthyear (1953) is between Brad Dourif (50) and Sean Bean. (59)
See, Sam C, I'm not too far from you! I think we figured out once, that we were the oldest of the 'usuals' in this gang.
To: HairOfTheDog
Thank you! I have learned something!
To: HairOfTheDog
We can all have short moments in time where we are not "one" with the movement of the horse, and I hope that is what this was. Maybe this will be part of the "bloopers" DVD. Did someone here mention PJ would be producing one, or is it only wishful thinking on my part?
To: 300winmag
You heard right! - A bloopers and out-takes DVD to be released with RoTK Extended.
To: HairOfTheDog
Woohoo!! I missed the post about that. I was wondering the other day why there weren't any outtakes in FOTR. Yay!
To: SuziQ; Sam Cree
You forgot Viggo (1958)...
I'm glad someone here is older than me....8^) <-----smily with bifocals....
To: Dawntreader
Well, I think it is good that they are waiting till it is over to publish the bloopers. It would probably kill the majesty of the moment to see Ian say "You Shall Not Bounce!" Heh.
To: HairOfTheDog
I agree it's a good thing.
IMHO, It takes away from the gravity of the story if you immediately follow the initial DVD viewing of the first or second part with Frodo dropping the One Ring and saying *expletive*!!!
