Men are not wearing enough hats!
The Meaning of Life ^

- CHAIRMAN:
- ...Which brings us once again to the urgent realization of just how much there is still left to own. Item six on the agenda: the meaning of life. Now, uh, Harry, you've had some thoughts on this.
- HARRY:
- That's right. Yeah, I've had a team working on this over the past few weeks, and, uh, what we've come up with can be reduced to two fundamental concepts. One: people are not wearing enough hats. Two: matter is energy. In the universe, there are many energy fields which we cannot normally perceive. Some energies have a spiritual source which act upon a person's soul. However, this soul does not exist ab initio, as orthodox Christianity teaches. It has to be brought into existence by a process of guided self-observation. However, this is rarely achieved, owing to man's unique ability to be distracted from spiritual matters by everyday trivia.
- [pause]
- BERT:
- What was that about hats, again?
- HARRY:
- Oh, uh, people aren't wearing enough.
- CHAIRMAN:
- Is this true?
- EDMUND:
- Certainly. Hat sales have increased, but not pari passu, as our research initially--
- BERT:
- But when you say 'enough', enough for what purpose?
- GUNTHER:
- Can I just ask, with reference to your second point, when you say souls don't develop because people become distracted,...
- [rumble]
- ...has anyone noticed that building there before?

I agree with you. Chivalry is dead.
AND then when the youngins :-) wear their trendy baseball caps they do not remove them when entering any building.
AND WHY DOES NO ONE PUT THEIR HAND ON THEIR HEART FOR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT SPORTING EVENTS, ANYMORE?????

I think every man in Texas should at least own a Stetson, Bear!
Even I have one, and I have never been to Texas!
But I am not picky... I think a fedora is very good too. anything but the "Old F*rt" baseball cap! LOL!
To: TaRaRaBoomDeAyGoreLostToday!
Are you sure they don't put their hand on their hearts for the national anthem? - They did when I last went to a game!
To: Sam Cree
I will try to post an image of one I just bought, to wear with my fancy coat, in cold weather. I would like that Sam!

Good (rainy, rainy) morning Hair! I'll see if I can find a pic of my juanty, floppy outback hat (I got it at Olympic Outfitters last summers) to post...
Snow in the mountains, so the ski cap is about to come out too...

Very good! - I love my ski hat... I have one of the really long stocking caps with a little poofy on the end!
I haven't been skiing now in years, though. Horses are an either/or kind of hobby... I can't afford more than one expensive hobby right now! Dangit.

Here it is, it's by Nordic Gear (Silver Creek Hat, I think they call it):

I borrowed a hat just like that one from my brother! Then I lost it. I am so sorry Ramius! It was such a cool hat.

Here is the ski cap that I bought my co-worker who had a little girl last year as a baby gift (I ski with her and her husband at least once a year). I got it for her in all red with yellow spines. It's called "Nessie" (for Loch Ness). She'll be cute as the dickens with this hat on when she starts skiing:

Well, you should go to ScoutGear.com and buy him one for Christmas!! (They're only about $28 at that site).
To: Scott from the Left Coast
This was years ago now... we will have to see if he still wants such a hat!

Put a helmet on that soldier!

The men in my family always wore hats, though not Stetsons.
My daddy favored a fedora. In the summer, he wore a straw one; in the winter, as above, it was felt.
My daddy's paternal uncle, "Uncle Lut," the sharpest dresser in a family of sharp dressers. Here he's wearing a zoot suit and the requisite broad-brimmed hat.

Thanks for posting those Rose!
So classy. Wonderful photos.
To: HairOfTheDog
Thanks, Hair! Not only sharp-dressed men, but nice people.

So what sort of hat would you buy for your bear? He says he likes a fedora...
To: HairOfTheDog
He would look very dangerous with a fedora, I think ... pulled down low, not quite concealing his habitual glower ...
<laughing!>
To: Rose in RoseBear
Bear - Habitual glower? - You don't say!
