This is our own corner of Free Republic where homeschoolers can discuss what curriculum we use, vent when needed, share our successes, compare notes, alert each other to things we find on the internet, and vent some more.

That's actually kind of impressive. Some things are better in text, but there is no reason why it can't be printed out as needed. An even better idea that a friend and I had for when my son starts homeschooling is getting a cheap pda and putting the necessary text on that. Less expensive than almost any type of computer, and even less to carry around than a laptop and more discreet. You can easily be reading while you wait in line, or sit in a car, or write notes as they occur to you. And they come with handy little belt clips.

Looking at possible employment in SF area. I know CA is not friendly to Homeschoolers. Is is possible to Homeschool in SF area without day to day legal battles? Does anyone know how strong Homeschool support networks are in that area? Appreciate any input.

Looking at possible employment in SF area. Good luck.

California government is ideologically hostile to home education, however, its LAWS are among the most liberal in the nation. It may not stay that way but that's how it is. My advice is to find a private school with a home-study program. That way your kid is officially enrolled in a school. We even get ID cards with my name on them as the teacher. No ambiguity there.
Does anyone know how strong Homeschool support networks are in that area? Appreciate any input.
They are VERY strong, as any Assemblyman who would propose home school legislation would attest. (Heck, even committed pagans want to be left alone to raise their kids.) My suggestion is to contact the California Homeschool Network.
