Quick...before the censor cops get me...
Posted on 10/07/2002 3:23:14 PM PDT by memsahib
I posted a thread and it was pulled. The reason the "sidebar moderator" gave was "pulled."
It talked about legal oppression and Scientology in the United States. What happened to freedom of speech? Isn't it part of a "Free Republic"?
It appears this site has an agenda to keep discussion of the dangers of Scientology off the agenda. Yet, it seems like just about anything else can be discussed.
So, is this site run by Scientologists? Or have they infiltrated a moderator or two? Or just scared of them?
A year ago, it was okay to talk about this subject.

Maybe it falls under religion bashing?
Does Scientology even call itself a religion?

Scientology started calling itself a religion many years after it was started, in order to avail itself of the special legal protections afforded to religious groups.

I don't know why your thread was pulled, but I agree that it's important to spread the word about this evil organization. Feel free to ping me to any relevant threads.
To: memsahib
Did you try asking why it was pulled?

What's your take on Scientology? As for myself..after doing a little research and study, I find them inherently evil.

Brainwashed cult of morons who need someone else to tell the how to think.
Nothing is their fault, it's all someone else's,fault that the inductee is unhappy.
For 40K they will "clear" you of all the negativity inflicted up[on you.
Their founder wrote science fiction (poor science fiction, at that) before the "founding" of Scientology.
Then he just "disappeared", probably back to the Mother ship.
Idiots!

Not only have they infiltrated FR, they have infiltrated your workplace!
Look out, they're right behind you!

Did you post it in Religion?

I thought I posted it to Activism, but it ended up in General Interest. If I posted it to the wrong category, why wouldn't the moderator just say so?

When does reporting on-going judicial abuse constitute "religion bashing" when the so-called religion has its fingerprints all over it? I think that the fear of retaliation by the Scientology Litigation War Machine is having its desired effect which ultimately abridges free speech. That's why free speech should be allowed everywhere. They can't sue everybody.

This is a good crowd here. If the issue was taken up here as well as many other places, then maybe something would get done about it. "It's not my problem" until it becomes your problem. Scientology is very much infiltrated in the California judiciary and there are indications of Nevada and Madisonville, KY.

Beats me. I'm just speculating as to why the thread got pulled. Do you realize the first two letters in free speech are FR? Oh, yeah.

thanks for the sarcasm. actually the title of this thread was sarcasm.
it's easy for people to think "ah, another conspiracy nut" when they haven't experienced it for themselves. Scientology is relentless in trying to keep the lid on its activities. one of its techniques is to "prove" that its critics are all crazy, every single one of them. Odds are against every single one being crazy. some of the critics of scientology are attorneys, a well-respected computer scientist with a major university, engineers, educators, several millionaires, numerous people with high-level degrees, as well as just ordinary folks.
the point is this: as long as forums allow the threat of scientology litigation to dictate their policies on free speech, scientology will continue to do what it has been doing for years...corrupting society in general until it becomes the law. it's the policy they operate under.

FR is also the first two letters of free press, freedom of association, freedom of religion, etc.
Scientology may be viewed as a religion by the U.S. government (and it got that status under very questionable circumstances), but tax exempt status does not give it the right to walk all over other people's constitutional rights. The case of Tom Padgett is one instance of Scientology meddling with a judge and making his life hell just because he exercised free speech and spoke out about Scientology.
Further, there are numerous indications that Scientology controls the California State Bar. An attorney who has litigated against them was suspended, yet the State Bar refuses to investigate a Scientology attorney who broke many ethical rules, with hard evidence to prove it.
Society in general needs forums such as this to be "liberty trees." It's what will keep negative influences balanced.

Actually, he was in hiding the last years of his life because the U.S. government and the IRS had taken a keen interest in him. When he died, an (partial?) autopsy was done on him before Scientology moved in to stop the proceedings. It was found that he had multiple needle marks in his buttocks and had Vistiril, an anti-psychotic drug, in his blood.
The theories are that he had become mentally incompetent (despite his claims of Dianetic healing and Scientology spiritual technology) and the people closest to him thought it best to keep him quiet. Dead quiet.
The official version as I heard it in January 1986 at the Hollywood Palladium was that Hubbard had outgrown his body and had moved on to new levels of research. Standing ovation and "Hip-hip-hooray" for 15 minutes.
Control was turned over to Pat and Annie Broeker whom Hubbard named "Loyal Officers" at that event. Within days, David Miscavige pulled a coup by announcing that the Broekers were "suppressive persons," had them "ex communicated" and wrested the reigns of power.
From then on, everything went downhill fast.

FREE SPEECH: USE IT OR LOSE IT!Go for it.  My point was that on a private
forum, you don't get First Amendment rights.

Freepmail the Admin Moderator the Sidebar Moderator or JimRob himself.
Ask politely why they pulled your thread. It might have been in the wrong forum, it might have been posted 50 times already or it might have been from a publication that we have been either asked not to post from or not to post whole articles from.
It might have even been a mistake.
 Just guessing.
