Good luck, #1CTYankee! It's a ride....
I just had li'l Principled 17 months ago. I still haven't slept... but li'l Principled is the greatest. I know li'l #1CTYankee will be your sunshine.

Think she'd be upset if I watched from home? I always thought that the old-fashioned way was the best way - the way they did it 40 or 50 years ago. You know, where the mother's job was to go in and have the baby, and the father's job was to sit in the waiting room and smoke cigarettes while leafing through old issues of National Geographic. ;)
Anyway, this your first?

Good luck, #1CTYankee! It's a ride.... I'm having flashbacks to when my son was born back in 97

Do everything you can to read her mind and stay off her nerves. If I recall- ice chips, back rubs, soap opera digest. Any thing else and you're probably in trouble.

Congratulations!!
My husband enjoyed going to the hospital with me when I had my two jedis, because the hospital had cable and we didn't. He usually got to watch a hockey game.

She could get sick of my typingShe could grab that laptop and whop you over the head with it, too.
Watch for signals that she is no longer a happy camper.

My husband watched a Three Stooges marathon in the labor room.
I would have preferred typing.

You know, where the mother's job was to go in and have the baby, and the father's job was to sit in the waiting room and smoke cigarettes while leafing through old issues of National Geographic. ;)I'll admit, not having to walk this far for a smoke is a pain.
But she's putting up with a little more then me. ;-)

My husband watched a Three Stooges marathon in the labor room. I would have preferred typing.Three stooges, I love those guys!
We brought some movies, they have a VCR in the room.
I thought of bringing the movie Rosemary's baby but didn't think she'd find the humor in it.

Prayers for all.

Trust me - in a little while she won't be finding humor in anything.

PS: Bring cookies and snacks for the nurses ; )I'm didn't drive the black sedan.
(Although I am a loveable man)

Trust me - in a little while she won't be finding humor in anything. As I recall, she did a pretty good impersonation of Linda Blair last time.

But she's putting up with a little more then me. ;-) Don't sell yourself short, now - the "emotional support" thing is the hard part, really. Don't be fooled by all that grunting and sweating - it's all an act, and the next time you get up to go to the bathroom or something, your wife and all the nurses will be laughing and joking about the fact that you bought it. So, when it looks like she's in the most terrible discomfort and pain near the end, you just go ahead and lean over and whisper "I'm on to you - I know you're faking it"....
That should get you a few years of sleeping on the couch ;)

Do you already know whether it's a boy or a girl?
To: #1CTYankee
What ever you do, don't tell her you are going to the cafeteria....and don't tell her *I wish I could do this for you*....
We are having a Birthday Party on FP.
