Addendum: For those who might not follow my drift, it appears that the symptoms were amended after the fact to fit the reported diagnosis. Don't you think it's possible the original press report was in error?

In all the shows where Henry Lee has been commentator on the Smart case I've never heard him make any contribution and he's shown less familiarity with the facts of the case than the average freeper. My observation as well.

A priest, a rabbi and a Mormon I know you think you are being cute, but I don't think it is a bit cute to attack a person's religion.
I almost expect you to start cracking jokes about Jesus next.
Now, if you don't mind, have a little respect for individuals right to post without their religion being held accountable for their opinions!!

"Don't you think it's possible the original press report was in error?"
sandude, I cited 5 separate press reports that cited 3 separate LE/Correction Dept. spokespersons as sources. No.....I don't think it was a press error.

No matter what I say, someone accuses me of something else. It's not just you, everyone flames everyone on this thread. Its one side against the other all the time. If you think Ricci is innocent, you're on one side, if you think he is guilty, you're on the other.
Now I'm off to find my flame retardant full body suit. I know I'm in for it now!!

We know that Ed trusted Ricci and was not aware that he was a felon.
We DON'T KNOW that for a fact.
Ed has stated as much on numerous occasions. Why don't you believe him?

I cited 5 separate press reports that cited 3 separate LE/Correction Dept. spokespersons as sources. Often times the initial erroneous report is repeated by other news organizations. It is not corrected until more reporters arrive on the scene and clarify the situation. If you've ever watched a UPI or AP news ticker you see this all of the time. The first reports are often sketchy. As time goes on more clarification comes. If it's a big story then news organizations will run with the first report knowing full well that it may not have all of the facts.

Ed has stated as much on numerous occasions. Why don't you believe him?Why should I? I do NOT think Ed Smart is in any way involved with the disappearance of his daughter, but I DO think it's possibly he might have had dealings with some unsavory characters -- for whatever reasons, that could be a factor in her disappearance (if she didn't run away).

but I DO think it's possibly he might have had dealings with some unsavory characters -- for whatever reasons, that could be a factor in her disappearance My original thoughts as well. I thought that perhaps Ed owed money to a loan shark. Perhaps business was bad and he was in over his head. Over time though I would think that LE would have uncovered this. It would have been easy to find a sudden unexplained influx of money in Ed's accounts. Nothing like this appears to have happened so I decided that my initial feelings were probably in error. It is tough to tell for sure because of all of the secrecy but I do think it would have leaked out by now.

Do we know for sure they had a lock box? Didn't Ed list the house with his own company? I think He or Lois would have been showing it, not some independent agent. Multi-list..which means any MLS agency had the right to obtain a key to enter w/ clients.

He's really desperate to stay in the limelight when there's other kids Amber Alert's issuedWouldn't you be desperate if you were in the same situation? Funny how you think this is such a bad thing for him to do, but if it were your child missing, (I would hope) you would be fighting to keep yours in the news as long as you could.

Multi-list..which means any MLS agency had the right to obtain a key to enter w/ clients. I'm not that savvy on how multi-lists work. I do know that plenty of people show their homes without leaving a key in a lock box. I really don't know what the situation was with the Smarts, I was only speculating.

"It certainly does show a realistic portrayal of a certain kind of naiveté that a lot of Mormons, the Smarts included, have. Sometimes people from my faith can be so uninformed about the world around them, especially those who live in Utah. This is not a condemnation because I fully understand it but it is sometimes frustrating to see. I do think that you would find the same type of phenomenon in many other religious groups."
please don't think that LDS has a monopoly on naivete'........I heard Mark K say this the other day, and even though he exasperates me at times...he said something that made a lot of sense...people just refuse to see evil...they look into the face of evil and they refuse to acknowledge it...
personally, I think evil is real, concrete, and it does exist in our world , but most humans are afraid to acknoweledge it...
for instance...Ricci....he could look into someones eyes and lie every which way and there would be some people that would believe him...the same goes for Bundy,Gacy, clinton,,,etc....
I really really liked that movie and I don't like most movies...I thought it had a certain beauty to it despite the suspense and violence

I thought it had a certain beauty to it despite the suspense and violence I especially liked the way it portrayed the sheriffs internal conflict between his civic and ecclesiastical duties as he faced the real possibility that someone in his flock may have been responsible for the murders. A good plot twister for sure.

"In the neighbor's house Ricci aroused a houseguest while looking in a dresser across the room. It was the middle of the night and the houseguest spoke to him thinking he was a family member. The houseguest was probably incoherent and grunting and he probably just grunted back."
_______________________
Sherlock, I don't know where to look up the original article where I read about the neighbor's robbery, but this is what I remember.
The houseguest was awakened in the night by someone looking through the dresser drawers across the room. The room was dark and the houseguest thought it was a family member trying to find something and trying not to wake the guest. The guest said to the person that it was ok to turn on the light, but the person just coughed and with a muffled grunt left the room. Later when they realized things had been stolen, the houseguest told about the mystery person looking in the dresser in the darkened bedroom.
