"In the neighbor's house Ricci aroused a houseguest while looking in a dresser across the room. It was the middle of the night and the houseguest spoke to him thinking he was a family member. The houseguest was probably incoherent and grunting and he probably just grunted back."

Sherlock, I don't know where to look up the original article where I read about the neighbor's robbery, but this is what I remember.

The houseguest was awakened in the night by someone looking through the dresser drawers across the room. The room was dark and the houseguest thought it was a family member trying to find something and trying not to wake the guest. The guest said to the person that it was ok to turn on the light, but the person just coughed and with a muffled grunt left the room. Later when they realized things had been stolen, the houseguest told about the mystery person looking in the dresser in the darkened bedroom.

Thanks, Yellowcat. Ricci took $300 and jewelry so I thought he might have seen the jewelry while working there and known it was in a spare bedroom and went after it but couldn't resist getting in the guests wallet when the opportunity arose while he was there.
