I have a nominee... nevermind

The story behind "Poor Dad's Casserole" can be told but only if asked for.
The recipe is easy, fast and cheap.
Cream of mushroom soup, little smokey sausages, green beans, salt and pepper, hot sauce (optional).
Take a rectangular 9"X13" casserole dish, layer with grean beans then little smokeys then cream of mushroom soup straight from the can. Salt and pepper to taste, add several dashes of hot sauce if wanted. Layer again in same order.
Cover with tin foil (or equivalent), cook at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes. Serve with crackers or chips as a side.
Cheap, easy, fast, and the kids will eat it.
Makes about 5-7 servings.

Ship ahoy!

Yum, sounds good. I'll try it when I get back to Charleston. Something else good with little smokeys is chilie sauce (bottled kind) and grape jelly. Mix the sauce and jelly and throw in the smokeys and simmer for a while on low heat and you have something even the most finicky eater will enjoy. Now, sir, what's the story behind the casserole? Please?

Arrrr...... Skull & Crossbones! Kewl. Go Bucs!

The pirate to wench ratio was pretty favorable for the wenches anyway.
I'll guess I could be "mercenary maid" so I can free lance, just like in real life.
Arrrrrrr, you can call me Mercenary Maid, aka FV, whose favorite hometown pirate is Jose Gaspar.
I say we send Sen. Jeffords to the brig post haste, followed by Sen. Daschle.

For the RNC Convention, I believe it's down to NYC, New Orleans or Tampa Bay. The RNC came and did a walk through about a week ago, and they really liked sticking their toes in the sand by the lovely Don Cesar Hotel on St. Pete Beach. It'd be a great place to have another FR get together and we are a pirate community after all.
Using my pirate name FV = mercenary maid. Hope I spelled mercenary right.
To: dixie sass
Aye, I eat and read threads at the same time and I just dropped me fork, reminiscing about all the lusty pirates. And they were HOT too. LOL
Did you do the dinner thing Sunday eve after I time traveled back to 2002? Mercenary Maid
To: floriduh voter
Oh yeah!!!! Hot, hot, and sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Everyone got together Sunday night at the Terrace Cafe' Sunday night and then the Battle Bar afterwards but with so many people leaving that evening and then the next morning, everyone just kinda fizzled out! I finally got to do some gambling Sunday after the meeting and lunch. Won $17.50. After we started playing and won the first couple of times, we started playing on the casino's money and won and lost that a couple of times. We came out about even or even a little to the good because I still have a couple of dollars in quarters in my pocketbook.

When I was in Reno, I tried a slot machine for the first time ever after I had a lesson from my brother. He even had a card that went into the machine that said "Hello, Thomas." After all the bells and whistles, I lost $5.00.
I gave him some dough to play the slots because he is my brother after all who I never see and by the time I got back to Tampa, I think I had a nickel left in my pocket. I was always reaching for my wallet for four days or was being random searched at the Vegas airport. I THINK THEY WERE PIRATE PROFILING.
It's good to be home but I really had a great time.

It'd be nice for the pirates to get together again next year and maybe even on Treasure Island by St. Pete if Tampa gets the Republican National Convention in 2004! That would be awesome. Work and family doesn't allow me to travel far at this point in my life, but anything like this in my own backyard, I'M THERE!
To: dixie sass
OK, you asked for it.
A few years back I was working as a desktop PC repair technician. My lovely wife was working as the dairy department manager at a local supermarket. My hours were normal 8-5. Her hours were 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
This meant that I had to cook dinner for the kids every night.
The kids got home one day as I was trying this recipe for the first time. One of them said something to the effect of, "Poor Dad, he's got to cook dinner again."
I looked up and said, "That's right, we're having Poor Dad Casserole tonight."
And THAT is how Poor Dad's Casserole came to have the name.

I say we send Sen. Jeffords to the brig post haste, followed by Sen. Daschle. Belay that! I say we KEELHAUL the buggers! Over the side with the bilge rats.
To: Joe Brower
Yes, that is definitely my backyard too. Maybe it would work out in 2004 if Tampa gets the convention. It would be an awesome backyard event to be at or near the RNC convention and having our own event too. Since we have the Pirate Chapter (unofficial) up and running, if I hear anything locally about the convention, I'll post it on the Pirate Thread.
FR would have awhile plan a get together on Treasure Island and hard core long term freepers can do the hard stuff and us locals can serve in advisory capacities.
I'll be back later with some jpegs of OUR TREASURE ISLAND on the Gulf of Mexico. Alas, I'm shoving off for now, Mercenary Maid
To: Just another Joe
"Poor dad." LOL That's a great sound bite but not for an election. Mercenary Maid
To: diotima; Seeking the truth
Please see my Gulf of Mexico Treasure Island post. If the RNC convention is in Tampa, I'll be glad to serve in an advisory capacity. I defer to you guys only because I have never organized a FR get together and if you left it up to me, it would be a disaster.
Friva was great. Diotima, you and the other organizers have the talents to pull off the event while I can provide information re: Tampa Bay and make recommendations.
If we don't get the RNC convention in Tampa, this is all moot. But, I wanted to explain why I was passing the buck on setting up the event. Gene, same goes for you. Fregards, Pirate Chapter
Battle Bay Rules!

All dem rats and RINOS are now overboard! I generically made them all walk the plank this afternoon (in other words, I didn't want to risk the FBI making a home visit over this). Mercenary Maid

Arrrr! Over the side, ye scurvy democRAT knave!

Buccaneer "Bay" mates, how much will this be worth on "E-Bay" in a matter of months? NOT.
