Ahoy mateys, please check in here at the unofficial Pirate Chapter of Free Republic if you were at Friva and saw the Pirate Invasion at least one time while at the Treasure Island Resort.
Even though I could spot some of you unsavory pirates from across a room, I didn't bother to scribble your screen names on any of my numerous receipts from Vegas.
The good news is that my camera's fine now. I just purchased shoddy batteries in Reno. IT FIGURES with a name like that.
I'll bookmark this thread and post here occasionally because Jeb Bush doesn't need me full time. LOL
I make a motion that we have no issues or ping list. What more could you want in a chapter?
If you had a bad day at the office, drop by the Pirate Thread and just try to get our undivided attention.
And, finally, I make a motion that we don't take any guff from the bandwidth police. We'll sink their battleship if they try anything.
An Historic Day - The Pirate Chapter thread is officially opened on this 20th day of August, 2002.
That's pirate talk for:
"Stow yer scurvy hide b'low decks and await me orders matey!"
FV,
Keep up the good work. I think the pirate thread is a pretty interesting way for those of us who shared libations at the battle bar to keep up on conservatism!
Regards,
TS
When the hotel sent us to the Battle Bar - I think that was the perfect place to send us. I decided to call this the Pirate Chapter but thoughts of the Battle Bar were on my mind. I didn't want us to sound like a bunch of lushes though, if we were the Battle Bar Chapter. LOL
Face it, we are always battling with dems and tearing our hair out with indys. The Battle Bar, yes, there will always be another battle for us, and we will all meet again.
Meanwhile, on the non-humor threads, there are Floridians freaking out over Janet Reno but I've moved on.
I wrote to Christopher Ruddy from Newsmax to start investigating Bill McBride. They have a book offer re: Reno. They're always selling this or that at Newsmax. I bluntly told them they better quick write an expose re: McBride and I'd buy it. He's sneakier than Reno but as dangerous a threat to Florida as she is.
Your brother can tell you about scientology. There might be some freeper scientologists and I don't discuss that topic on FR but that's where they have a big hotel, etc. They do have Christmas parties though and my brother got to play drums for Chick Corea and another time with Edgar Winter.
Yes, scientology is what incredibly wealthy celebs do with their money. Beyond that, I'd suggest a google search and you'll get their detractors and probably some sales pitches. It's just positive thinking that they morphed into a religion to avoid paying taxes.
Their founder was a science fiction writer and has been dead forever. That sci-fi movie Travolta produced and starred in was written by the founder of Scientology. The movie totally bombed at the box office.

Sorry. I was gettin' hungry!
This is not a ping list - it's our volunteer Pirates & Wenches. If you know someone who attended Friva who wants to join this hassle free chapter, let me know. Lots of freepers want to meet some time "as pirates" when there are other FR events. That would be kewl. I'll just bump this thread once in awhile and maybe someday, I'll make up a ping list.

How about that Tom Daschle today? He's the undersecretary of the UN IMO.
You are encouraged to have a great weekend and be sure and rest up for Tuesday's primaries. Yeah, right... FV from the Crow's Nest
I assumed that everybody who went to Treasure Island went to the Battle Bar and saw the Pirate Invasion. Of course, you can join if you promise to type pirate words and check in once in awhile. I just got home from a multi-year class reunion. There was only one other person from my year.
I also met HS people from the same old neighborhood who were younger than me whom I've never met. We made a map of our streets & house locations on a cocktail napkin including a box where the K-Mart is.
I don't think Mapquest has anything to worry about.
(He said whilst ducking and running for cover)
The funniest observation was that the font on the name tags was too small (remember Matt Lewis' lecture)? And, since many of us had vision problems, to sort through and find our name tags, we had to hold them at arm's length. It was fun putting the slap-on name tags on the guys. LOL So was disco dancing. IMO, the dance type oldies club where they held the reunion had a louder sound system than any in Vegas.
Have a great weekend and MAY ALL YOUR NAME TAGS HAVE BIG PRINTING...
For the record ladies - you saw the Pirate battle with Me and Interesting Times! Where the heck did you go to school? Ghoul U!
My mother always said when you get a compliment just say 'Thank-You'. So, on behalf of the skinny and bald and short and rotund I say, "Thank-You". ;-)

TS
