Yes, game and fish officials removed it from the house using a hooked stick with a loop of rope on the end and put the snake in a small cage-type contraption.
I was told I would be notified tomorrow by someone experienced in doing the property check, to arrange for that to be done.
I'm still not sure how the snake got in the house to begin with, my home is not near the foothills of the mountains, where I'd think this was a more common event. {God forbid!}

Whew! I just wanted to hear for sure. (I knew you were tough, but I was worried about the kitties :-)
If you don't hear from someone by tomorrow afternoon, call them back!

So where are you sleeping tonight?

Sweet lady, I just read your bio information and if ANYONE on here is capable and strong enough to handle this situation, it is you.
I am, at this moment, thanking God that your encounter with this "illegal immigrant" intruder to your home did not have a more tragic outcome.
I am sorry that none of our efforts to identify the creature could be successful. But the advice I saw about caution was warranted and well thought out.
I suggest that where there may be one, there may be more... and yourself, your husband, and, most importantly, your three children need to go somewhere else until your home can be thouroughtly cleared of other serpentine invaders.
