No a baby rattle snake will not make a noise. Most likely if it's head is not triangular it's harmless and will eat alot of insects in your garden. Try to sweep it into an open area with a broom then cover with a container until animal control can get there.

Not enough info.
Juvenile snakes often change appearance as they mature.
Where are you located?
Do a Google search for snakes + your area.
If you have kids, they usually know the local "snake expert."
Good luck!

When in doubt, waste it.

it didn't come from your boyfriends boxers, did it?
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I don't know if
this will help - it's a link to a site about snakes in New Mexico - did you know there are 46 species of snakes in new Mexico, but only 8 are poisonous (7 types of rattlers, and a coral snake...)
Cool, huh? I learned something new today :0)

thats it! but if its young it may not have the same markings
just get a stick or a pair of salad tongs grab it by the neck and carry it outside hes more scared than you are and remember if you use a stick you hafta grab it right behind his head and the and the stick should be held there as well till you grab it with your fingers

don't be, ive just never had a snake appear in the house before!
:)
what do u mean more? more snakes could be around here? if so, how would i know

Not a good rule of thumb. Most western rattlers look likethe rocks in their natural habitat, especially when they're curled up.

Shoot the sucker and identify him later,,

Baby rattlers usually have little rattles. Depending upon what part of the country you're in, they would probably be a lighter brown color -- not the greyish-brown that you're describing.
Chances are 1000 to 1 from your description that it's not poisonous (hey, I'm an Eagle Scout!). Remember also that you're 100 times taller than he is and that he doesn't have any arms or legs, so just imagine how scared the poor little feller is.

It sounds harmless.
If it has round pupils it is harmless.
Just put it outdoors.

Where I live you can find the occasional copperhead(maybe one every 5 years)but I live in Pennsylvania.

Put a garbage can over it. Go online and search for snakes...see if you recognize it.

ok...will a garter snake have markings or not? or does it matter? does a baby rattler make rattle noise?

Only if a tree falls in the woods without me there to hear it. |
And if I don't get my ass bitten by a snake.

The way mom (she's 83) taught us to handle them is to....
find a strong stick with a forked end. Put the snake on soft ground. Then gently place the fork of the stick behind the head of the snake. Then push him into the gound....

Try this.
Call it "James". If it wags its "tail" and looks up at you, KILL IT!
Actually, don't go near its head. If you have a plactic/metal bucket or trash can, cover it. Call your local animal rescue or animal wildlife agency to have them come and remove it.
Good luck!

look ive raised several of these snakes im pretty sure your dealing with a garter or a small none venomed snake of the same sort
Just get him outside and DONT FREAK OUT hes just as scared as you are if not more
