My faith wasn't rooted in governments, religion, tall buildings, or frail people. My faith and my security were in God" ....Lisa Beamer
We had a fair amount of rain yesterday and last night. Friday we had rain also, but it seems to me these rains are coming too late. The soybeans across the road from us are yellow with just a little bit of green. For some reason this summer it has often clouded up and looked like rain, then changed its mind and moved on somewhere else.
An aide to Prime Minister Berlisconi of Italy was assassinated by far-left terrorists in Bologna. The aide was in charge of drafting new labor law, with such fascist ideas as the ability to fire employees, so in their minds he deserved death. Apparently it is a wing of the Red Brigade.
Hope everyone had a blessed weekend!
As you probably know, the whole public education thing is bugging me badly, GC. I got some encouragement last night from a good Chinese friend to pursue our idea of starting a Christian school here. I'd love to see parents here have a real choice about schools.
In Sunday School yesterday I was blessed to find out that one woman who is a local teacher has refused to join the NEA and its local affiliates. She gets some pressure to join once in a while, but she sees right through them. She's even in favor of school vouchers, something very rare among public school teachers.
I wish E D would leave, and let Juliet take over.
Juliet is more conservative, and speaks her mind!
E D plays the middle to left tooooo much!
So there!
I agree with you and GC6 about the NEA and public education.
Seems to me all they worry about is somr sort of quota. and not making sure the children get an education in good moral and Christian values not to mention thr three "R's".
All they're interested in is seeing how many children they can push through.
Here's the link for live, Free Republic chatting (IRC), but I think I didn't bookmark the link for listening to RFR.

Having lived for 7 years under socialism/communism, I can verify that this is a threatening idea to socialists. When someone gets fired from their job, the government just has to reassign them somewhere else as they are the provider.
And as teachers we found that it was equally hard to fail a student. When my wife assigned a failing grade to a student, the school administrators came to her and begged her to reconsider. She gave the student work to make up, but when he failed to do any of it, she stuck to her guns and refused to assign a passing grade. However, we suspect they changed his grade anyway.
The one person I know who got fired from his job was a cook who threatened a student with a meat cleaver when the student complained that there wasn't enough meat. And even then, it took 2 days of protests and boycotts from the students before the school took that measure.
It is not polite to yell at individuals who are unaccustomed to rising with yardbirds.
Therefore, I must protest!
I will wake up when my cells receive their daily dose of caffiene.
This yardbird started the Thread today, thank-you very much :^)
Yes I can say...to a point! I teach at Keesler AFB in Biloxi MS. I teach Gobal Command and Control Systems (GCCS).
Why didn't I know this before?....(could it be I don't pay attention :(
Bravos for you!!!!
Thanks for prayers, everyone.
