Virginia authorities looking for missing nine-year-old Police in Henry County issue an "Amber Alert" for Jennifer Short, whose parents were shot and killed.

Martinsville, VA, Aug. 15 - Authorities in Henry County are looking for a nine year old girl who they believe may have been abducted from her home. 50-year-old Michael Short and 36-year-old Mary Short were found in their Bassett home along U-S 220 near the Franklin County line.
Police said both apparently died from gunshot wounds and say evidence seemed to rule out a murder-suicide.
Henry County Sheriff's Capt. Kimmy Nester told the Roanoke Times that there was no sign of the girl this morning, although the family had been together last night.
An Amber Alert has been issued for nine-year-old Jennifer Renee Short. Authorities initially thought she may have escaped during the shootings, but she hasn't turned up, and authorities are now presuming she has been abducted.
The girl is four feet, three inches tall, weighs 58 pounds, and has brown hair.
