Bugs Bunny tops greatest cartoon characters list

The "wascally wabbit," who's faced down Elmer Fudd, Marvin the Martian and Yosemite Sam, has come out on top again: According to the latest issue of TV Guide, Bugs Bunny is the greatest cartoon character of all time.

Bugs is also the only character from the pre-television animated-short golden age to make the magazine's top 10.

Popeye as portrayed in the original 1930's Max Fleischer cartoons ought to be high on that list. I loved the way the orifinal character used to mutter under his breath. The new series in the 1950s was pretty poor, though.

Mickey, Donald and Goofy are just too vapid for words, and shouldn't be on any list.
