| 06/05/02 | Wednesday | ~ 1:05am - 2 cars are spotted on the SLC Shriner's Hospital Parking Lot by a hospital security guard, two blocks from the Smart residence ~ 1:30am (approx) - Elizabeth is kidnapped from her home ~ 1:30am - Ricci claims to be in bed asleep with his with wife. ~ Ricci is scheduled to be off work all day today. ~ 7:21am - Rachel/Amber alert is issued and national media is involved. ~ 8:30am - Ricci and his neighbor talk about the kidnapping of Elizabeth, Ricci seems to know too much information about it. ~ Sometime during this day Ricci is visited by police in regards to Elizabeth's kidnapping as reported by Angela Ricci (Richard A. Ricci's Wife which is an ex-convict herself) ~ Ricci is seen by his neighbor digging a hole by his (Ricci's) trailer early in the morning. (heard the neighbor say this on TV) |
| 06/06/02 | Thursday | ~ Ricci is scheduled to work from 9am to 5:30pm today, but instead works from 10:30am to 7:00pm ~ Police talk to Ricci this day about the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping. (The media is reporting this, so it could be wrong) |
| 06/08/02 | Saturday | ~ Ricci returns the Jeep to the repair shop to get it fixed. The Jeep is muddy and the repair shop owner sees Ricci remove seat covers from the back of the jeep and place them into a plastic garbage bag that already contains other stuff in it. Also the repair shop owner said a muddy post hole digger was in the back of the Jeep, Ricci removes this also. Ricci has a man waiting across the street to give him a ride. Ricci takes the plastic bag and contents along with the post hole digger with him. Also there is 500 to 1000 extra miles on the Jeep since Ricci picked it up on May 30th, 2002. |

Would a sketch be needed?
Was MK able to visit with PD and Boylan alone?( I believe from the transcripts of Boylan and Couric, she stated that she met with the Smarts the night before, and got a feel of WHO Mary Catherine was, her habits, talents, etc.But she did not make it sound like the parents were with her and the child when she did her interview.)
I believe someone posted here in the early days of this running thread, that Mrs. Smart insisted on being present with MK when she was interviewed by police. right?
Have the police got this information ? Is that why Boylan wasn't caled in, in the beginning? Was the co-operation done so smoothly, because they were not afraid of this person?

I've thought a number of times that the police should take a second look at Trujillo. I have no reason to doubt his story; he seems credible. However, he has known Ricci for years and provided info to the police that has been used--or at least we have cited here on FR (descriptions of the two cars and their drivers.) Here's my take on Trufillo. He's very, very intelligent and is greatly underemployed. He's as well-spoken and clear thinking as a professional whose public speech is part of their daily reponsibility. Yet, he was a security guard in a prison for many years and now works as a guard on the graveyard shift in a children's hospital. Not only has he known Ricci for years, he also fits the description of the kidnapper--medium height, dark hair, soft-spoken.
Several things have made me wonder about Trujillo: his intelligence and the way he described the driver of one of the cars he saw leaving the hospital parking lot the evening of ES's disappearance. He said that the driver was clean-shaven and had a head of dark, thick hair, the way a man might describe their own hair with pride.
I know nothing about this man and he has always seemed credible. But I've always hoped that the police were privately taking a second look at him, as I hope they have at everyone connected with this crime.
I don't think Larry is used to handling hard questions any of us would ask !
It appears that the last time that he was released from prison, (1997?) he had a legitimate running business, to the eye, and funded by a now apparently defunct financial institution. It's amazing that an ex-con gets financial backing to start his own business and still can't get his act together.
Do you think it's possible they sold her? Why would they sell her and why would they deliberately mislead the authorities, I'm sure they realize they would face prosecution?
Also, of interest, some of them mention that the LDS church is connected to Global Crossing, the recent scandal that rivals Enron. The claim is that the LDS owns Global.
Interesting. Anyone have time to check this out?, or, does anyone known on this board know anything about this?
I was curious as to where Ed Smart gets the funding for his mortgage loans. First National Mortgage, per David Smart, in an article, is Ed Smart's company. I wonder if the LDS church is funding the loans? Ed Smart is not listed as a mortgage Broker in Utah, in the licensed Brokers/Agents. That is odd.

The polygamists will call themselves Mormon fundamentalists, that the LDS church is out of step with true revelation. Within Utah, yeah, we know that there are sects of polygamists, but when they go on national TV and call themselves Mormon fundamentalists, that is where the confusion sets in outside of Utah. They'll have varying official names of their sects, etc. And there are many sects, all with different names, because each head of the sect has received his own revelation about polygamy. It can get very convoluted.
You're probably right, but I would still like to get a list of questions for Ed to answer:
1. Were Elizabeth's grades declining in the last few weeks?
2. Who recommended Ricci to you?
3. Why was the family late to the school on the night she disappeared?
4. Was Elizabeth upset she missed her harp performance?
5. Since you knew that Ricci may have stolen from you, why were you defending him in the beginning?
6. Why didn't you let the sketch artist talk to MK if there was any chance it could have helped identify the kidnapper?
etc...
I'll probably hear from some people on the board with answers to these questions, but I would like to hear it from Ed.
