Judge William D. Mudd admonishes the media about attempts to photograph Neal Westerfield, son of defendant David Westerfield, as the son left the courtroom during a break in his testimony Wednesday afternoon, July 24, 2002, in San Diego. The judge had ordered the media not to film the teen. David Westerfield is accused of the kidnapping and murder of 7-year old Danielle van Dam from her home in February. (AP Photo/Pool, Dan Trevan) |

I think that varies from place to place. We're fortunate that in our state, there is a network of HS'ers that you can belong to. 3 or 4 children per HS'er, depending on where you live in the state. We've already joined the network, and it's looking like its a very well-planned organization.

**The problem is that the judge will not allow the defense to even hint that Damon, or anyone in the house that night had anything to do with Danielle's death. **
But why would the judge not allow it if there's a reason to believe they *may* have had something to do with this case? Just doesn't make sense.

Well, look at some of the newer people that come to the thread;
"Based on what I've heard, DW is guilty...of course, I haven't been following the trial."

I didn't have a particular date in my mind when I wrote that question. It seems like a logical question to ask..even if the sciences are not exact..there was a beginning and end ....and the time frame shoudl have been narrowed because of the mummyologist. Don't you agree with that?

But why would the judge not allow it if there's a reason to believe they *may* have had something to do with this case? Just doesn't make sense.Because it is the law. The law doesn't always make sense.

You're right! Steam cleaned 'before' (wink), vacuumed after... and then replaced! Just the things I would be thinking about should my child be missing.

I think part of the difference is a condition of the heart.
The vanDams are selfish, deviant, and superficial people, imo. Their hearts are on themselves, not on little Danielle.
Erin Runnion is a selfless and loving mother, desiring the best for her daughter, imo. Her heart was/is pouring forth towards her family and not on herself.
Erin Runnion wasn't concerned with her appearance in her pleading for her daughter..she was concerned about her daughter. Contrast that with the vanDams. Quite a contrast in that alone.
