Kyle is my only son and I'm going to continue nursing him as long as he needs that...

She was interviewed on Good Morning America yesterday. She seemed kind of strange. It seems either a caseworker or she, herself, said the boy resisted and was embarrassed at his mother's insistence on breast-feeding him.

It seems there is no mention of the father/husband, either. Conjecture: He isn't in the home and probably not much involved in the boy's life. From the mother's statement (italic above), it would seem she is using the boy to fulfill her needs rather than the boy's. It would seem she is using him as a husband-substitute for her own nurturing. Certainly not a healthy situation for either the mother or the boy.

what ever anyone else says here, 8 years old is way to old,and I believe this is more for mom than the boy. But should the state be able to take her kid away for this,. I don't think so.

her son is now eight-years-old. "I did nothing wrong with nursing my child. Kyle is my only son and I'm going to continue nursing him as long as he needs that and until he weens himself."

And if he invites the other boys on the Little League team over for a drink or just to watch, well that's okay, too. They seem to enjoy it, and I like being the most popular mom in the neighborhood.

Not to mention the fact that the AAP is more than a little LEFT OF CENTER

And don't get me started on their non scientific Lead paint scare tactics......

Nursing at 8 years old should be a hint that the mother is psycologically disturbed.

Our child's pediatrician said the first 6 months were great, but that he'd like for the child to be breastfed for the first 12 months. The child went about 18 months, but, as Wondervixen said, once the teeth came in, the weaning began.

There's very little medical benefit proven after six months. Remember, the AAP is a left-wing medical organization. They have model legislation to outlaw the manufacture and possession of handguns. Link
