We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Before the news, would all members of the class, particularly those who live in those states served by the Ninth US Circuit Court of Appeals, stand and join in saying - loud enough so even those thick-skulled "Justices" on the "Ninth Circus Court" can hear you - the Pledge:
I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE
TO THE FLAG
OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,
AND TO THE REPUBLIC
FOR WHICH IT STANDS,
ONE NATION
UNDER GOD
WITH LIBERTY,
AND JUSTICE,
FOR ALL

You have been warned...
For anyone who doesn't believe what the Palestinians are teaching their youth isn't a religion of death, the Israeli Defense Force released the following photograph of an infant found in the Hebron home of a Palestinian man wanted by Israelis:

[Credit to Reuters.]
An explosion, belived by many to be the work of Al Qa'eda and the Talibums, in a munitions store in southern Afghanistan, killed five and started a fire in a UN food center.
A major battle is underway in the Philippines against a guerrilla group associated with Al Qa'eda.
Two men who were part of Iran's delegation to the UN, and who were in this country for only about four months, were expelled after being seen videotaping such things as the Holland Tunnel, Brooklyn Bridge, and other landmarks.
A Muslim lady in Florida is suing the state saying she does not want a photo of her on her driver's license not wearing a veil. Prior to September 11, she was allowed to have a photo wearing the veil, but after that date, the Florida authorities insisted she (and presumably others) replace it with one showing her visage as a matter of public security.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Guennie, I think you're right too. I personally think the perp in the Smart case is either a neighbor or extended family or family.

For a very short time tomorrow morning we will have President Cheney in charge...

I, like you am not "native", but am an adopted daughter to Texas, and will always be an Alaskan.
When Roomey and I disagree, he warns, "watch out, I'll melt your ice, and you won't be the largest state".

Ya'll are overlooking something with this woman covering her face, she might be like my neighbor and NEEDs to cover her face, it may be one that is not the looks you want to bless this world with. Sheesh, no understanding at all.

I policed and they would have a cow if they saw all the weapons I have.

You are so right, and now, off to watch the Braces beat Boston. Have a good night and don't let the bed bugs bite.

Hi, Jim. Thanks for highlighting the Judicial Campaign decision I linked above.
The CFR implications are there, you're right!

#124....Dog, I checked this out yesterday when I read the posts from you & Marple....
....Yes, our local mall is one of those mentioned, but I don't visit it as much now that I'm 30 miles away....
...I did a fast check on that jewelry store.....doesn't seem to be one here.....but I will personally visit the mall soon and check it out.

#126...Kehoe, I waver between doing it, and not doing it.
Guenevere seems ..,'oh so pretentious' a name, kinda -(even though Molly really likes it!).....
..guennie is more me.....but I would like my date back.
Mozie has encouraged me too.........I'll think on it :)

Thanks for the ping to "Packer Fans From Outer Space".Based on the review it sounds like a delightful play. I loved the Starship Nitschke and the Open Nitschke parts. Where is Fish Creek?

#165....I love
Gone With the Wind...but I always want to leave the theater or turn it off during intermission.
I like the first half.......the second half gets soooo sad & angst filled....
My s-i-l was born in Atlanta.....a true Atlanta native.........and has never seen Gone With the Wind....

FWIW, I like Guenevere better.
Also, I' ve both read the book and seen GWTW. The book, I think, is the great American novel. Most people can't see past the antics of Scarlett to snare Rhett especially as portrayed in the movie. But the characterizations and philosphies and just plain good writing in the book are among the best in all literature.
I especially appreciate the humor when Rhett suggested to Scarlett that she name her store, "Caveat Emptorium." Also, how many people today understand the literary allusion when Rhett says the yankees wanted to "hang him higher than Haman?"
I try to read the book every two or three years. It's just a good book each time.

FYI and FWIW, I was just in a bookstore this very afternoon, where I discovered a book that claims the Secretary of the Treasury in 1865 was the man upon whom Margaret Mitchell based Rhett Butler. Her characters were actually composits of real people, but often whether conciously or subconciously there is an outstanding personality which an author uses. I skimmed through a few pages of the argument and it does indeed appear that the writer made a good case for this gentleman. BTW, it's Secretary of the Treasury for the CONFEDERACY.

Well, guess I better get my lazy self over to the powers that be, and see if the former me can be reclaimed :)
I read the book, but it's been ages ago.......and as you well know, there are parts of the book totally left out of the movie.
I don't remember the 'higher than Haman' quote, but I know what it means :)

LOL! I figured that you would know the reference, Guennie-dear. There are indeed parts the movie left out and it adds so much subtlety and depth to the characters.
The movie presents Melanie as a complacent ninny. But the book presents her as wise, knowing, strong lady. I want to be just like her.

Well, there we disagree, sister. :)
I still found stength of character in 'movie Melanie'.....
...she admired Scarlett, but I don't think she ever envied her.
To me, Melanie came across as a complete person.....
...gently bred, with her sense of self ....intact.
Scarlett was strong-willed, but deeply insecure --IMHO.
I would have chosen to be Melanie.
Melanie was at peace with herself.
