Oh, gee, ohio! Prayers and more prayers!! thanks for sharing such a wonderful, beautifully written story.
You have much in common with many other moms, I'm betting.!

He is a charming young man, who makes people happy just to be around him. What a beautiful post you've written, a tribute to your beautiful son! It brought tears to my eyes too. He sounds like a fine young man, and a very special person.
(And who would say such awful things to you? I'm always amazed at the rudeness of some people who think they can blast others just because they're anonymous on the 'net. Very unkind. But then, they must not have had mothers like you!)

Thanks for the ping to this beautifully written story about your son. I know so well what you are feeling. My son joined the Navy fresh out of high school. It was over ten years ago, but reading your story makes it seem like yesterday.
Yes, the military has many faces, and your son's will be among them in my prayers. Supporting our active duty military and our veterans has become a priority in my life. I pray for them daily. I know that, with the Lord as his Rock and Salvation, your son will overcome every obstacle.
Please keep me on your ping list as you update us on his progress in the Army. :-)

What a beautiful tribute to your Son, Eric. I will continue praying for him as well as you and Mr. OWF. Make sure you tell your Son how grateful we are for his service to our nation. I remember my younger brother heading off for Boot Camp 15 years ago, He got on the bus as a young boy, and he returned home a man.
God Bless You, OWF, Eric and Family
Mike

What a wonderful post, OhioWfan! Your words here have moved me to tears. I kind of understand what you must be going through because as you know I have a twenty year old son who is contemplating joining the army. He is going away to boot camp for a week this summer to see if it's what he really wants to do. He is going to college to become an engineer and is really interested in being part of the Army Corps of Engineers. He has had his physical, all systems are go, but I don't think he has signed on the dotted line yet. When that happens, I will be suffering (but proud as heck) right along side you.

John 14:
[1]Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me." God bless you and your son. It's a beautiful picture.

ohioWfan, what a wonderful essay about your son. I'm in tears reading it here at work. What a handsome young man you have. We, the people, are blessed to have him as a part of our military. God Bless Eric, your family and all others who serve.

Eric is very lucky to come from a loving family such as yours. You are very blessed to have a son as fine as he is.
I feel much the same way about my son-in-law who is in the Air Force. He seems so sensitive and fragile to me, but he has proven himself more than worthy to be a member of this branch of the armed services. We are all very proud of him as you are of Eric, but concerned for his well-being as only parents and in-laws can be.
God bless you, Eric and your family. May God keep him safe and may you be blessed with strength while Eric serves his country.

Thanks so much for including me in your pings to this touching story. I know you're prejudiced; however, the facts speak to what this young person has accomplished so far in his life, and to his inner strength and beliefs. It does indeed put a face on "our troops". I'm so glad you posted the picture. What a fresh-faced, handsome youngster! I can only imagine the void you have in your life today. Prayers for you and yours.
