Who will be watching the U.S. soccer team play S. Korea this morning at 1:20 AM?

After the United States soccer team's shocking defeat of Portugal on Thursday in the World Cup, I would like to find out who will be watching the U.S. play South Korea on Monday morning? The match is on at 1:20 a.m. central time on ESPN2(fire up the coffee maker).

I did not get up to watch the Portugal match because I was not too confident in the U.S.'s chances but I am starting to turn into a believer. I will be watching this one live. It was very surprising that about 1 million people in the United States watched the U.S.-Portugal game last Wednesday at 4 o'clock in the morning. GO USA!!!

I watched the England vs. Argentina game and it did not live up to all of the hype. Before this game, Argentina was picked by many experts to win the World Cup. Argentina was very unimpressive and might not even get to the next round. England played hard. They won all of the 50/50 balls and tackled very hard. They had numbers back all game so Argentina didn't have a chance. Michael Owen for England was very impressive and dangerous every time he touched the ball. Keep watching him to see how he does in this World Cup. I am also very impressed with Klose from Germany. He already has 4 goals in 2 games. He can score at will in the air.

I think the games of the World Cup to watch will be US-Korea, Argentina-Sweden (Wed), Nigeria-England (Wed) even though the Nigerians are out of it, Denmark-France (Wed), Costa Rica-Brazil (Thurs), Cameroon-Germany (Tues), and Mexico-Italy (Thurs).

S. Korea Activists Fight Police

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- Protesters kicked and punched police during a protest Monday over the death of a South Korean man who received an electric shock from power wires set up by the U.S. military.

About 300 demonstrators gathered in front of a hospital in north Seoul after a funeral service for Jeon Dong-rok, who died Thursday from his injuries.

The 55-year-old man was working at a construction site near the U.S. military base in Paju, 25 miles northeast of Seoul, when the metal sheet he was carrying brushed high-tension wires last July. He received a 22,000-volt shock.

Dozens of demonstrators scuffled with riot police, who prevented them from marching into the street with Jeon's coffin. No serious injuries were reported.

The demonstrators demanded an apology and compensation for Jeon's family, as well as the withdrawal of 37,000 Americans stationed in South Korea as a deterrent against North Korea.

``Source of evil, U.S. troops out of Korea!'' one demonstrator chanted.

The protest came as thousands of police prepared for possible anti-U.S. demonstrations later in the day when South Korea's national soccer team takes on the U.S. squad in the World Cup games in the southern city of Daegu.

Police planned to deploy 5,000 officers near the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, where fans were expected to gather to watch Monday's match on large screens.

Sports have become a source of anti-American sentiment in South Korea following a dispute in February over the Olympic short track speedskating race. A South Korean disqualification let American Apolo Anton Ohno win gold.

I fail to understand why, as a passionate fan of the sport, I need to be told that someone else finds it boring, and I've never seen this phenomenon elsewhere . . . except on the occasional NASCAR thread.

Adults play golf and buy Cadillacs, open accounts with Merrill Lynch, and vacation at posh resorts. Third-worlders and American children play soccer, and the latter group seems to grow out of it by their teenage years. This leads me to believe that the only way to make soccer a TV sport in this country is to run it at double-speed on Saturday mornings between cereal commercials.

I used to root against the US soccer team, but now I don't even think it matters if they win. Gotta go now, the new Ron Poleil infomercial is starting in 2 minutes.

I was very disappointed in the 2nd half for the US. They kept clearing into open space and were clearly outhustled by S. Korea. Jeff Agoos is playing very poorly but Fridel was outstanding.

Now, Poland will be a lot tougher than we thought since they know we are weak in the middle.

Give credit to S. Korea, they were in better shape than the US.
