Thanks - after I posted it I wondered if I really should have. But it is a sore spot with me.

I spent the majority of my first marriage being accused of having an affair with any man that I knew that had not been introduced to me by my husband. The wonderful man to whom I am now married was even publicly accused of having an affair with me by my ex - even though hubby and I never met until after I had left the first one.

That must have been rough. My husband is a testament to faith and character. My husband has recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. It seems that many of the symptoms described him perfectly. However, promiscuity and drug/alcohol abuse are also symptoms and I know he hasn't engaged in such behavior. If anyone would have an "excuse" for cheating, it would be he. The fact that he hasn't is a credit to his strength. Don't tell me men can't control themselves. If he can, anyone can.

That's probably the one "valid" excuse there is for cheating. If the spouse is gonna make you do the time you might as well do the crime. Of course even then getting rid of the spouse before being with someone else is better. Glad you're out of a bad situation.
