Do you remember some of the ingredients in them? That would be helpful when looking.

She died when I was in first grade. I can tell you lots of things about her house, her kitchen, her favorite soap opera and the games and tasks with which she used to amuse me ... but the bacon grease is the only ingredient that really got my attention ... =)

Max's Molasses Cookies

My batch of these just came out of the oven, my superb compliments to you - these are the best ginger-snap-type cookies I've ever made! Thanks for posting this recipe.

Well, you're welcome! I'm glad they turned out good, my mom tried them and they turned out too runny. I would wonder if she did something wrong, except she never does anything wrong and it's pointless going over it with her! (grin)

Check out this pumpkin bread recipe. It's got nutmeg in it, I'm not a big fan of nutmeg. Anything I can substitute? I'm making this first thing in the morning to give warm to my post lady. I actually met her at the mailbox and asked her if she'd be comfortable accepting a baked good from me and she said she would love it.

I have on hand ground cloves, ginger, allspice, and even pumpkin pie spice.

Spicy Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

3 cups white sugar
1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
1 cup vegetable oil
2/3 cup water
4 eggs
3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
2 teaspoons baking soda
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions
1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour three 1 pound size coffee cans, or three 9x5 inch loaf pans.
2 In a large bowl, combine sugar, pumpkin, oil, water and eggs. Beat until smooth. Blend in flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda and salt. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts. Fill cans 1/2 to 3/4 full.
3 Bake for 1 hour, or until an inserted knife comes out clean. Cool on wire racks before removing from cans or pans.

Does anyone know how we can bookmark threads? I can't figure it out on the new system and I want to save the recipe threads.

It's right above the word "navigation" and under your links.

I don't have anything that says Navigation or Bookmarks on my FR page anymore. Since the new system I can't bookmark.

I think it's there for you, but it's tricky to find.

You'll only see it under the very first post.

Hope this helps.

Penzey's is the best! I discovered the store by accident while I was living in the Milwaukee area. Walking into that store was a little like heaven...oh, the scent of those delicious spices! Do order from them. When the package comes, the aroma will fill your kitchen, all then benefits of home-baking without even turning on the oven!

We will do recipes for Thanksgiving and Christmas again this year. A lot of people have these threads bookmarked. Due to popular demand I have my Garlic Smashed Potato recipe on my profile page.
