‘Make America Hot Again’ generation is turning cool on Maga
Yahoo/The Telegraph ^

Posted on 11/08/2026 5:53:45 AM PST by Tench_Coxe

The American flags lay discarded on the tables, not a Maga hat in sight.

The crowd had dwindled to the last dregs of the party, with people nursing their warm martinis. On the screens above the bar, the unavoidable message blared: the blue wave sweeping across America.

At the "Make America Hot Again" party in an uptown bar in midtown Manhattan on Tuesday night, young Republicans faced a reckoning with their own party.

"Maga is officially dead," said Raquel Debono, 30 matter-of-factly. "The brand is done."

(snip)

Matthew McCormick, 29, had turned his stool away from the TV screen. The Republican strongholds of Texas and Kansas had just fallen; the Senate belonged to the Democrats.

"We need to take some hard-earned medicine; we need a return to sanity," he said. "We need to move back to common ground and bipartisanship – how the GOP used to be."

I think the Telegraph is doing some framing.

My opinion: I'm not dismissing some of the issues that were stated (Iran War, cost of living, etc.), and I think on some of those Trump didn't do himself any favors. But the people quoted in this article are what I would call 'unserious'.

As far as to the latter bit: those paragons who would fit the description pretty much got wiped out. And no Karl Rove and the Bushies, you aren't getting 'your party' back.

I don’t think we will ever know the damage done to our party by the murder of Charlie Kirk. But it’s great I’d wager.

Also proving Stalin knew what he was talking about. He said: “real power comes out of the muzzle of a long rifle”.

His loss is beyond estimation as far as capturing the hearts and minds of the youth of America. And as yet, no one has stepped in to fill the void.

Yes, I don’t believe that tripe for a minute. I have noted since the midterm results the piling on of Trump and what he has been trying to do. Back benchers jump to offer up free advice on how Trump should have done things differently. End the war they say, while Islam is now inside our own gates bent on conquering America and no one is doing a damn thing about it. Finishing the war in Iran is necessary but it will certainly not stop Islam’s march over this planet, which is the conversation we all should be having. The battle is much larger than Iran and humanity seems blind to this reality because the Devil is confusing their minds while his henchman continue to advance.

Populism as a ideology generally is pretty short lived...been tried and died in the end.

"We need to move back to common ground and bipartisanship – how the GOP used to be."

No such thing with Democrats. “Bipartisanship” for them means they get what they want and Republicans get on board. Reagan signed a “grand bargain” where Democrats got tax increases in exchange for securing the border. Democrats got their money and then voted _against_ funding for border security. That is their SOP.

It’s more of what’s contained here. The communists overran us while we were sleeping.

The Greatest Generation were a generation of patriots. Their children grew up w/rebels (Jack Nickleson, Peter Fonda) and whores (Jane Fonda) as idols. Baby Boomers developed accordingly.

This is a great case in point.

America today is dealing with, onshore, educators lying to parents and encouraging pronoun and reassignment surgery, murdering mothers having a big fan club, runaway federal fiscal idiocracy, assessing the pros and cons of transformative technology like Generative AI, a collapse in morality and fidelity to the Holy Trinity, a rise in possession, high interest rates, and inflated prices of staples.

Meanwhile, half of this board is frightened by the govt of a nation 7,000 miles from Maine that can barely deliver water to Tehran…they want THAT boogeyman who’s “threatened” America for 47 years and the toast of neocons who claim “2 weeks till they got a nuke” every few months, to occupy our minds.

And then they don’t understand why there was a blue wave, which btw is statistically likely in midterms but could have been muted.

Nah….Iran et al….lets fixate on that splinter while avoiding the aforementioned beams.

Well said. Hopefully the MSM will take a beating too after aiding and abetting this whole mess, their responsibility is decades long and the fools that believe them.

On a daily basis, since at least 2004 when I started lurking, on FR just about everyone who is left of Reagan has been called a socialist, communist, and so on.

For 20+ years, there has been no dissent; everyone in the Democrat party is a Marxist.

Lurch? Commie. Obama? Commie. Pelosi? Commie. Schumer? Commie. Biden? Commie. Harris? Commie.

So, after all this time and after all these commies, NOW I’m supposed to get all scared because - horrors! - COMMUNISTS won elections.

Oh my!

Every 4 years, the conservative media and MSM tell me “this is the most importantly election of our lifetime.” They try to get us all worked up. Often they succeed.

SO….does that mean Obama wasn’t that bad? Biden was just a dottering old centrist? Harris was ok?

People can’t have it both ways….either we didn’t have communists before and we gotta worry now (which means 20+ years of “conservative” lies), or they’re all commies and this is not worth the “existential crisis” I’m being told to have THIS time.

We have no election integrity, we have bizarre election results that defy common sense, and we have the American people including too many here who seem clueless to all that.

Yes, this is a big reality check, but so far too many people are missing it.

“And as yet, no one has stepped in to fill the void. “

Most republicans hand over their children to government schools. As such, most “Charlie Kirks” become leftists at our own hand.

That is why nobody has stepped up. There is noone.

Government schools are the suicide of republican parenthood.

It was to be expected.

Rats flee sinking ships. Even if many of them are unserious, it still makes the movement appear smaller and that is not good no matter how the cake is cut.

MAGA is not dead. The Death To America crowd and Sunshine Patriots have been temporarily resuscitated.
