Indiana carried out its first execution of the year early Thursday after lawyers for the condemned man failed in their bid to stop it, despite new details emerging about the state’s secretive process of obtaining lethal injection drugs.
Jeffrey Weisheit, 50, was put to death at Indiana State Prison shortly after midnight for the 2010 murders of two young children in a house fire, state officials said. He had no last words and was pronounced dead 45 minutes later.
The state does not generally allow media witnesses to attend, and Weisheit’s legal team could not immediately be reached for comment about his execution.
The race to spare his life had ended up before the Indiana Supreme Court late Wednesday, when the state’s highest court voted 3-2 to allow the execution to proceed. The dissenting justices would have permitted temporarily pausing the execution for 10 days to sort out questions over the lethal drugs.
After the execution, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita said the state was delivering “long-awaited justice” for victims Alyssa Lynch, 8, and her brother, Caleb, 5.
“This case stands as a clear affirmation that those who commit the most heinous crimes against the most vulnerable will be held fully accountable under Indiana law,” Rokita said in a statement.

True.
I would literally have the lawyers executed for trying to stop it. If you murder someone, confess your sin and accept your just punishment (me included). The leftist liberals (many of them lawyers) want us dead. So be it. Get it on.
Maybe they can lend some to Tennessee.
When you buy from Temu........
“It appears the lawyer’s “concerns” were unfounded”
You’re right there. I would be interested if anyone can display for me why he shouldn’t be executed for murder.
On April 9, 2010, Jeffrey Allen Weisheit (March 28, 1976 – November 5, 2026, set fire to his girlfriend’s house in Evansville, Indiana, United States, leading to the deaths of her two children, Alyssa and Caleb Lynch, aged eight and five, respectively. They died from smoke and soot inhalation, and were found gagged and tied up inside the house. Weisheit, who fled Indiana after the crime, was arrested in Kentucky and charged with double murder. He was found guilty and sentenced to death in 2013.
Does it make a whole lot of difference how much this animal suffers for what he did. He didn’t just start the fire and they were in the house. He tied them up prior to doing it to make sure they died and they probably suffered during the action. It’s too bad he can’t be executed more than once. Turturing children under 10 years old while killing them is repulsive and below the standards of being human.

Next year will be a Dem Attorney General. The counties around indianapolis went blue.
You want a real cautionary tale?
Remember how people got all angry - and even ousted several in the state primary - Indiana state senators who blocked the Indiana redistricting to carve up the blue sink hole of district of Indianapolis?
IF that plan had passed, the rats would have won 9 of 10 IN House seats.
A lot of people owe apologies to the so-called ‘RINOs’ for stopping what would have been the dumbest of all dummymanders.
But what if the lethal drugs turned out to be unsafe? /s
Boy howdy.
It would be like Thunderdome; "All will enter, all but one can leave."
Indiana only has 9 Congressional seats. The R’s did lose one seat with the existing map. The next closest race was Dist #2 (5 points). Hard to tell for sure what would have happened if they redistricted, but I doubt the Democrats would have won more than 5 or 6 seats of the 9, as all the other races were won by R’s by 9%-11%.
Perhaps the state of Indiana needs to test the efficacy of the drug on those lawyers who claimed it is not guaranteed to be effective.
Heck, any lawyers would do if we need a larger group then those lawyers constitute.
My bad on the count - and yeah, we don’t know what would have been.
But my point is that the redistricting plan would have carved up the “blue sinkhole” that is a safe D Indianapolis district. It also would have reallocated some of the NW Indiana seat that is generally blue dog, but winnable in an R wave.
As many of us said where the gerrymandering came up - that gets dangerous because you put seats at risk to fall in a wave.
The ratio was off - my bad - but the larger point still stands. Bad as the House results are? They would been even worse.
Stuff seemed to work okay.
16yra of 3 hots & a cot, at Taxpayers’ expense, for the scumbag. Sad, but GOOD JOB, Indiana.
Meanwhile, Gavin Newsom commuted all death sentences in California.
Probably commuted all of them so it isn’t clear which ones he really wanted to let off.
