Crude Oil Prices Plummet a Day After the Election (but It's Probably Just a Coincidence)
twitchy ^ | 04 November 2026 | Doug P

Posted on 11/05/2026 3:14:41 AM PST by Merrick

One day after the midterm election, two economic-related things are happening.

First, the stock market is having a really good day. Democrats and their media allies would like everybody to believe it's because that party will be taking control of the House and Senate, but the actual reason might be a bit different:

The stock market is soaring today because the truth is most business people would rather politicians do nothing and with gridlock guaranteed for the next two years they will get their wish.

— Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) November 4, 2026 Gridlock makes for a couple of years worth of predictability (not to mention the impeachment efforts and constant lawfare the Democrats have been promising).

Second, crude oil has dropped quite a bit today.

Funny, nothing has changed in Iran from yesterday and yet oil is plummeting. What does this tell you?

For everyone who sat on their hands or, worse, voted Democrat because, "muh gas," you were chumped.

The Chinese did the same exact thing in Sept 2008 to get Obama in. Only, the US economy had been propped up by Barney Frank’s and Chris Dodd mismanagement of the Fannie and Freddie, and it crashed the world economy.

The Democrats are already in with the Chinese and Iranians.

We all know that the oil market and the stock market are expressions of peoples feelings. They go up and down for most any reason.

I always love to see a company miss their revenue target by 1% and have their stock go down 15% as a result. Can you say “great buying opportunity”.

Yeah. It’s “feelings”. And anyone who voted on their, “feelings,” was chumped. You know who votes on their feelings? White suburban Karens. Anyone out their proud for throwing in with them?

Yesterday someone I know in “Moronto” on Facebook celebrated the drop in gas and oil prices because of the midterms. This person (along with the many other silly voters in that area) likely was that content to pay the much higher prices along with Trudeau’s carbon tax.

I expect oil to drop below $50/bbl and the Feds to drastically lower interest rates now that the orange threat has been tamed.

Apparently not just Karens, but also “Chads” (youthful white suburban gamer quasi-male low-T incels).

So oil dropped on expectations of stability and policy changes due to the election which would potentially allow the flow of oil to return to normal (still below prewar levels), the shipping costs to go down (Currently adds `$40 a barrel, an increase of around 9X what it was) and a decrease in the cost of insurance to protect the value of those freighters and people see that as a conspiracy of some kind? People are shocked that a power swing in both the house and senate, talk of removing Hegseth etc... make people think there’s a much greater chance for the things impacting the price of oil to go down?

If you are shocked by this it’s not because of Democrats. It’s a basic lack of understanding of how the market works.

Of course you would say that, marxist symp troll that you are and have been “since 2026-07-07”.

>> It’s a basic lack of understanding of how the market works.

Oh please. You don’t know jack about how the petroleum market works. The stock and futures market is NOT the petroleum market.

"Oh please. You don’t know jack about how the petroleum market works."

The thing with leftists is they tend to suffer from the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Ronald Reagan made a more accurate observation: "The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so."

But what always amazes me is why do they even bother posting on a site like Free Republic? IMHO, In the case of trolls, its a desperate plea for attention.

And yet I can share countless articles that will pinpoint exactly what I am saying as being the reason. Some of us do this for a living son. Sit down and learn.

Some of us still hope that sanity and reason will return to this website one day. Not the constant attacks against anyone who presents facts to a conversation while screaming TDS, TROLL, You are new aaaaaargh! It’s a sad pathetic crutch when people can’t actually articulate their positions or provide anything to support it. That’s when tenure comes out as the only thing they have left.

This site might return to reasonable conversation. It might not. Some of us hope it will.

"Some of us hope it will."

Got a mouse in your pocket? Another lefty verbal tick: claiming everyone else supports what they're saying.
But let's play along. You listed links. Great. Now, IN YOUR OWN WORDS explain the content. You can do that, right? After you stated 'some of us do it for a living', intimating that you do.

Put up or shut up.

interesting you interpret “SOME OF US” as meaning everyone. I guess comprehension can be a struggle.

As to the other. I hoped someone would challenge it. Do you know what this image is of? It’s one of my tools. Do me a favor and go google the cost of a factset terminal and who would use it. I’ll wait. I included your post in the screenshot just to be sure.

That’s why more often that not, if I’m bringing anything other than a personal opinion, I bring receipts.

I wish more on FR would do that. I often find myself asking, “do you have a link?”

Health care stocks are rising. Perhaps in the prospect of returning federal subsidies from the Dems? So much for “Medicare for All”, which should be Medicaid because Medicare only pays 80% and requires supplemental insurance
