NYC’s DAs go quiet when pressed on claims they told staff to downgrade illegal immigrants’ charges

New York’s top elected attorneys were like deer in headlights when pressed about a congressional investigation claiming they’d directed staff to downgrade illegal immigrants’ charges to avoid deportation.

The attorneys — state AG Letitia James, and city District Attorneys Melinda Katz and Eric Gonzalez — stared blank-faced when asked by The Post about the damning report at a Thursday gun-safety press conference.

“Did any of you order prosecutors to downgrade gun charges to keep illegal immigrants in the US, per the Judiciary Committee report the recent house judiciary report?” a reporter asked, explaining the report could clearly indicate a gun-safety issue.

But the attorneys merely smiled and blinked — with Katz even throwing her hands up in a shrug.

“This is a gun-safety question,” The Post followed up. “Any response from any of you?”

“Our answer couldn’t help it,” Katz eventually muttered, before somebody asked for “any other on-topic questions” and hustled the presser along.

“Our answer couldn’t help it,” Katz eventually muttered, before somebody asked for “any other on-topic questions” and hustled the presser along.

The attorneys refused to speak on the House investigation again after their news conference — with James smiling without a word at the question and Katz deferring to her spokesperson.

The awkward dodges went down just days after The Post revealed a House Judiciary Committee report claiming elected Democratic DAs in the Big Apple directed staff to downgrade sometimes alarming charges in an outright effort to keep illegal immigrants from being deported.

Same people who want gun control... I just cannot come to any logical interpretation of their behavior, other than the eradication of White America.

Eradication…yes. But first enslavement is the goal via communism and destruction of our Constitution.

Prosecutors routinely overcharge suspects to gain leverage for plea bargaining. It’s what grand juries were intended to prevent. The fact that they won’t do that in NY for illegals is more proof of a broken criminal justice system.

What BS! The justice system isn't broken at all.
The appointment method of justice system MEMBERS by Democrats, and therefore the outcomes of criminal cases, is what is broken.

While I think you’re technically correct, as long as we have liberals the outcome is the same. I think you’re arguing over word choice.

It is our election system that is broken.

Democrats could not stay in power for decades without cheating.

They didn’t go quiet.

They had their stooge try to shut up the questioner.

The federal deportation law is poorly written.

It requires a conviction for a felony.

An alien should also be removable if they committed a crime that could be punished by at least one year in prison by either Texas or Florida as of 2020.

Deportation is a civil law procedure. It should only require a substantial amount of charge credibility.

There are millions of quality people who would happily take up residence in the USA. We don’t need to keep bad or dubious migrants here.

“Democrats could not stay in power for decades without cheating.”

The Democrats have imported millions of moochers and will import more until not even the slightest amount of cheating will be required.

The necessary way forward is to place (or attempt to place) tax caps in the Constitution.

Once the sizes of the feed bowls are limited, it will be undesirable to import moochers.

NY is corrupt at every level. It was the SDNY that arranged to immunize all Epstein supporters so that they cannot even be known and then persecuted. They covered for Epstein’s client base. That is why so many low-IQ arseholes insist that DJT will not release the names — “cause he is one.” No, morons, the SDNY arranged things so that there is no legal way to find out.
This is a NYC problem.

The necessary way forward is to place (or attempt to place) tax caps in the Constitution.

This would require an Article 5 convention of the states.

Congress Critters would never put an amendment like this on the floor for debate.
