Maybe this should be expected, as polls do tighten in the waning days of an election cycle, but this is different: we have a summer chock full of blue death coming for Republicans. The blue terminal is crashing, after a wild prediction that Democrats would get 230-plus seats in the House bolstered it for a bit. Then, the Midwest tightened up, leading Democrat operatives to acknowledge they weren’t as confident about a blue wave. This isn’t 2018.
The truth is we’re flying blind. It’s 50/50, because the polling isn’t reliable anymore. We have multiple fake poll controversies, all of which were explained away by the ‘this was a social experiment’ line. Still, we’re now getting stories that GOP voter support has been underestimated for most of a generation; that if it’s underestimated by two to three points, the GOP retains control; that Trump voters can’t be polled; and that the current climate isn’t being gauged properly. The pivot has begun, with the new Harris poll showing Democrats with only a four-point lead in the generic ballot— not enough to win.

FWIW, my wife and I voted yesterday in a solid R area. The poll workers said they were extremely busy throughout the entire day.
Fake Polls by Fake News no longer work like the used to.
I’ve yet to see the value of generic polls. How do they help predict voter patterns in statewide or district elections?
They got nuthin’. What have the commies done that isn’t even more commie? $4.32 gas and we MUST have socialism. I ain’t buyin’ it.
Horizontal had an autopsy, which was so bad, they delayed the release of an entire chapter. And the ‘affordability’ scam popped up right after that was released. Never give up the con.
I think it gives them something to talk about, which is the only reason they do it. It’s sort of like a national vote analysis for the Presidential race; you know, the one that is decided by Electoral College votes, not taw popular vote.
Polls are tight.
It does not matter who is leading by them, it does matter who’s votes are counted.
Voter participation is what matters.
Which party can get their voters to polls!

NYT/Siena has Tafoya down by 54-40 just as we get our hopes up in Minnesota.. If it anywhere near right I could see where we’re in denial too.
In my lifetime, democraps can win on nothing. We have seen it before. 2006, 1998, and 2022 come to mind.
Mark Mitchell’s analysis of Dems +11 was dependent on the -40 crowd showing up. They are not showing up. They never show up for midterms. Rather the voters are mostly +40 and especially the boomers. There the majority vote red.
In Texas the democrats needed two thing. They needed a massive presidential year turn out. They got it. But they also needed a suppressed republican turn out. They didn’t get that. The republican turn out is also massive presidential year turn out. Texas is something like an R+12 state. When the numbers are equal the R+12 takes over.
Reminds me of the poll released by ABC just a few days before the 2020 election showing Trump losing Wisconsin by 17 points. Absolute garbage intended to influence the outcome.

2006 certainly comes to mind. In Virginia, Senator George Allen basically invented a word, "Macaca" to describe a heckler and it was blown up by the media into a major 'racist' issue. It put Allen on the defense, from he never recovered, and he lost his Senate seat. The Dems and their media connected all Republicans running that year to the 'racist' comment, and the Dems won the Senate.
It was the "Macaca Majority." As you said, the Dems can win running on absolutely nothing.
