4 things to know about mysterious transgender student mailers in Texas
Christian Post ^ | October 21, 2026 | Ian M. Giatti

As Election Day approaches, Texas families across the state have reported receiving unsolicited text messages and physical mailers that appear to promote resources for trans-identified students.

The materials, which first surfaced last week, prominently named the Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT) and linked to its website, which features guidance on bathrooms, pronouns, student clubs, and even legal emancipation from parents.

TENT has strongly denied any involvement, calling the distribution a political attack timed to coincide with the start of early voting.

Here are four key things to know about the controversy.

1. Newly formed Wyoming LLC appears linked to the mailers

The sender listed on mailers shared with CP, “Texas Transgender Student Union,” matches a limited liability company formed Sept. 2 in Wyoming, according to a Texas Tribune report.

The return address on the physical mailers is a Meadows Place, Texas, address that doesn't appear to be valid, CBS Texas reported. It also remains unclear who is behind the LLC or how the senders obtained personal contact information for so many Texas families, including the managing editor of this publication, along with parents of students who attend such schools as Prestonwood Christian Academy, a private PreK-12th grade Christian school in Plano, Texas, affiliated with Prestonwood Baptist Church.

The address listed in the LLC filing has reportedly been linked to nearly 300,000 limited liability companies, according to The Sheridan Press in Sheridan, Wyoming. Many people have fallen prey to scams that have used the same LLC address, according to the Wyoming Tribune Eagle.

2. Transgender advocacy group locks website after denying involvement

While TENT has publicly said the text messages, which The Christian Post first reported on Oct. 14, and physical mailers “were not authored, authorized, approved, or distributed by TENT and are not affiliated with our organization,” the advocacy group locked its website this week.

Featuring a single page with a statement shared with CP and other media outlets, the TENT website also now displays a Mariah Carey GIF with the caption “Why are you so obsessed with me?”

TENT also suspended its planned “Trans Texas Takeover” tour, citing increased safety threats and risks of violence, according to MS Now.

3. North Texas GOP calls on elected officials to ‘speak up’

Despite denials from TENT of any involvement in the campaign, Julie Schmoker of the Collin County GOP in North Texas says she believes the organization is simply backpedaling after making a “critical legal faux pas.”

“I believe Transgender Network (transtexas) did this,” Schmoker told CP on Tuesday. “They realized they made a critical legal faux pas and they're crying foul.”

While Texas state Rep. Jeff Leach has already called on Paxton’s office to investigate, Schmoker said it’s time for “elected officials” to get involved.

“Our elected officials are the ones need to speak up with their plan of action and investigate,” she said.

4. Controversy impacts run-up to Election Day

The mailers have served as a sort of “October surprise” for the upcoming midterm elections, spurring calls from Leach and other Republicans, including candidate Jon Bonck, who's running in Texas’ 38th Congressional District, urging the attorney general's office to investigate.

In a social media post on Sunday, Bonck, who identifies as a Christian conservative, called the mailer “disgusting and evil,” adding: “Are they hoping that children get their hands on this before their parents? The radical left is trying to brainwash Texan children and unravel the basic framework of our society. No more. This has to be stopped.”

The campaigns of Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico both said they had no involvement with the mailer.

A CP review found no response to the mailers from any prominent Democratic leaders.

I received one of these. They don’t “appear to”, they DO, loudly and repeatedly.

I’m pretty sure people are mostly over the trans fad. (And it IS a fad).
I think it is time to shun and/or pummel adherents to trans ideology.

t also remains unclear who is behind the LLC or how the senders obtained personal contact information for so many Texas families

The real question here:

How can anyone get a job as a writer for a significant publication when he doesn't know how easy it is to buy mailing lists?

My complaint is with the Republicans who have been spamming my texts this election cycle. But I'm smart enough to know that they are buying the lists.

Footnote - the only democrats that spam me are for Louisiana races - I know where they got my number.

Agree. Was there a suggestion Texans should vote for Talarico? That would be an in-kind contribution. But if there is nothing political, it may be protected under the first amendment.

Can’t image how the Talafreako campaign would be involved in this. The last thing he needs right now is to have Texans reminded of his ties to the trans community. I’m guessing this is some conservative group doing this thinking they are helping Paxton. Though if he doesn’t have any involvement, which I suspect, if the truth comes out it could tarnish his campaign anyway. Look at the mess in Ohio over a tacky ad run by somebody not affiliated with Ramaswamy’s campaign.

I can’t imagine it’s motivating to Hispanic Dems in El Paso and San Antonio to have their noses rubbed in the party’s alphabet agenda.

Well unless they spoofed the number, it was sent to me by the person who owns 432-324-9998. Should be easy enough to track that down.
